You speak insanely well concidering how young you are, I have been composing for 10 years yet only like the last 2 I started to make actual music, most people do not have the patience and those geniuses that do are not marketed properly... World we live in.

this is BY FAR the most relatable video i've seen from you. Currently i'm working on a track that i've already put 80 hours into, not even knowing what to do for the 2nd drop. this video is some BIG knowledge bro, you never dissapoint. Hopefully i finish it soon with this info in mind. For some other thoughts - for me, personally, a very big slowdown is not organizing my workflow. What I mean by this is, for example making a section, then maybe fixing some frequency masking on that section only to come back to the previous one and tweak the melody. All of those things should be done in seperate stages of the production process, but I just make a big mess out of everything, which creates a lack of direction within my workflow. That takes up a big load of time. Another thing is trying to be perfect in everything. When I was starting, i thought that every song had to be a banger in order for me to grow as an artist. That's a stupid mindset. If I were to force myself to make a banger every time, I wouldnt finish a single song. Taking breaks from producing can also be really improtant. This might seem pretty lazy at first, but Sometimes it's just needed. Working hard as an artist every day is a good thing, but opeining your DAW thinking to yourself 'This is good, this is productive' and not being able to lay out a single idea because you're tired of doing it every day for so long should be a wake up call imo. I feel like growing as an artist means not only working hard every day to get to your destiantion, but also taking the right decisions. Apologies for any grammar mistakes, and stay on the grind everyone.

first i thought "hm well pretty basic advice for perfectionists" but i really like the idea of the 1 year rule. it's nice to remind yourself the project you're working on won't be the peak of your whole creation process. so thank you, i'll keep that in mind!

Think about this, we have full loops and stems available and we all still get stuck to not finishing ideas, thing is we want to go to the next idea before it goes away and then we get sidetracked, but set a time and actually go back to the other and finish it you'll have fresh ideas, and don't forget to not overthink everything arrange your track and you'll see what is needed most times people have too much sound like this over explanation. Let it flow.

yea thats all so true lol sometimes i make the entire song in 3 days (like 5-6h) and then i spend another 2 weeks (like 10-15h) only listening to it 100 times and adding or changing super small things

Thank you so much for this video! I've been producing for 5 years now, but I still haven't had much success. Eventually, I realized that I don't need to try to polish every track for days, I can just keep grinding and watch my skills improve every week. Your video is years of experience compressed into one short guide where every word is valuable.

As for your point about the Pareto principle, it's certainly even more extreme than that in reality. If it takes you 2 hours to fully sketch your idea out, that would imply that you could finish a fully finished track in just 10 hours, but it's probably going to take longer than that.
@TheCalico4 ай бұрын
This is very well articulated, and as someone who's been a guitarist for 8 some years and only learning FL for the last 2-3, this helps so much. That first 20% for me is a wild and creative use of my brain, experimenting and getting an idea down. That last 80% is where you have to organize your own creative chaos and have a plan in mind. Awesome video dude 🙌

I love making music, being doing it all my life but lately I get very disappointed when I try to mix my tracks with profesional tracks on my DJ sets, it really get me down that I spend all that time doing the track and at the end it doesn’t sound even nearly as good as the pros… I end up not even wanting to do music any more for a wile but then I always come back and try again but at the end is always the same disappointing feel… I feel like I am just waisting my time.

I don't know if I fully see his perspective, but as someone who's learning after 6 years. A daw still has a science/digital process. When programmer tells the code to do something, 9 times out of 10, there are systems to make each task more efficient. each system can be more efficient within your daw. If you have your sounds more narrowed down then you have a focus and finish those tracks pretty quickly. The crazy thing about me getting better at any aspect though, is I needed help, and networked with others. before you judge anyone's fast methods, hear it on multiple sound systems, and ask yourself: "did they learn that themselves or someone else?". and they usually did learn from someone else. that's the power of networking
