I’m not here to be entertained. I’m here to learn as much as I can. When I watch, I’m all ears! So don’t stop doing what you’re doing.❤️

Great video and I know exactly what you mean! At the barn where I used to ride "lesson horses", there was one young gelding that had been given excellent extra training, not yet "ruined" by novice riders. A ride on Ground Zero was a real thrill because he was actually teaching me! Always left those particular classes feeling pretty high. Tim, your knowledge and explanations are the best! And it's great to hear about Bob's improvement with new treatment.

And IMHO, Trail Riding encompasses just about as many skills for both horse and rider as you could ask for. I've done both Arena and Trail, and have found that Trail Riders (horse AND human) need to know more and be able to do more, as they are essentially in an uncontrolled environment. Y'all NEED that bond with your horse to have fun and stay safe.

I always pick up great strategies from you. I like what u said. EVERY RIDER IS A TRAINER WHETHER UR TEACHING THEM GOOD OR BAD. So true. Thank you 😊

It is a good thing to "raise the bar". It seems that many people are satisfied with a ride if they weren't thrown. You are entirely correct. It's amazing what you'll get if you ask (and train) for much more.

I think they get so many views because people relate to a difficult horse. When I watched it I got some good insight to why my horse acts up and what I am doing wrong aiding to the problem in the first place. My boy was a lesson horse and he definitely learned his bad ground behavior from novice riders but oddly you get on him and he is a total gentleman.

I’m so glad you said, some people refer to their horse as “finished “. I always ask myself, how can you ever use the terminology…. finished, when describing a horse’s level of knowledge and behavior. Personally, I could not. ❤️

Horses are not a machine......like this video for pointing that out. A horse may be considered finished....but that is only according to that rider. Keeping a horse steady at their job takes a keen trainer......a steady hand who can recognize how to keep that particular horse in tune with doing what is correct in whatever level or kind of competition they are in.

Thank you! Great video! You must have been reading my mind. I watch you because I can understand what you're talking about because of the way you teach. Thank you so very much! I have just started learning Ranch Riding. I have had horses most of my life, but you are exactly right about spending time finishing and perfecting the small important details. And, yes! I would LOVE to ride one of your horses. I have so much to learn just in handling my own self, much less the horse!

Love your videos❤ I have a bay roan mare that looks just like the one in the right lead video and she has the same issue. I learned a lot from that and all your videos.

I also think those high entertainment value ‘unruly’ horse videos make people afraid of their horses or make them think they are incapable of going any further than they are because their horse is a ‘problem horse.’ The horses may need some further training but probably don’t need to go over the same hind quarter yields and forehand turns every single time…or you just never progress. Good video !

I totally agree that having a taste of excellence can give you a target to aim for. In college I had the privilege of riding Topsail Cody and it was truly an “aha moment.” THIS is what is possible!? THIS is how sensitive a horse can be? THIS is worth working for! 30 years later I’m still wanting to get my horse to that state of responsiveness.

After watching your videos, I realize that I have never ridden a well-trained Western horse. Have ridden English lessons on champion horses, but not an English rider myself. VERY few places here in Houston area give Western lessons anymore. Maybe that's a good thing, from what I've seen on the internet.

First, I wish I could ride one of your best horses too Tim!😊 when can I come?🤔😂 Second, I’ve witnessed more than a couple people, (and I was one once too), who THINKS /Thought they had a close bond with their horse because the horse does certain things naturally, and that’s what they end up focusing on. But then there is the stark realization, that as soon as they ask the horse to do something new, or challenging or worrisome for the horse, that relationship is tested and often fails them because the bond was dictated more by what the horse wanted/was more comfortable with, instead of what the person built into their horse to help it become a relaxed and trusting solid citizen.

A lot of what people don’t understand is the heartbreak and pain that comes with having a bad day and there’s gonna be a lot of them. I’ve had so many clashes with my mare, when I would come off her and wonder why. That is when you slow down, think about the ride and work backwards to find the problem and fix it. Never blame the horse.

He mentioned run for the million it is a high caliber reining horse show that reiners attend not a show on Tv. It gets a lot of views because the horses are trained to the hill and what he is saying is we should set goals with our horses and watch the videos that will help us with that and do the slow process it takes to reach our goals and bond better with our horses. I have been with my horses for 6 years now, took lessons for 3 years and started watching videos like Tim’s to build on that foundation and have been doing some kind of show for 4 years now I have a great bond with both of my horses but I have put in a lot of hard work, time , and study day after day and it’s been worth it. Thanks Tim for your wonderful advice once again ❤
