Hi Adrian, I bought two of your books and they helped me a lot to understand things I was missing that I had not been taught neither in design college nor in the courses I took. Thanks to this and doing the specific Google UX course and keep insisting, I finally managed to pass a selection process and I have been selected as a Junior UX/UI designer. It has been a hard and very frustrating time until I reached break into the industry because while I was applying to job offers I had to accept a full time job that I didn't like, to be able to pay my rent. I received a lot of rejections at first, but in the end I made it and I am very happy now. So thank you for sharing all your knowledge, it helped me a lot🎉🙂 And it will surely also help others who are in the same situation.

Hey Sara! Thank you so much for saying that, I really appreciate it 🙏🏼 And I'm really glad you found value in my ebooks. There's nothing more satisfying to hear than when your "students" find success in life. I'm happy to be a part of your journey. All the best in your new career, and welcome to the industry! ❤

Hi Adrian, first of all, I would like to welcome you to KZbin as this video was showing in my feed and I am happy to know that you are finally on the video platform as well since I am already following you on other platforms. This is a very helpful and kind of treasure I must say you provided here as you said where "form meets function" since one can't get such knowledge in college or university all beginners designers just jump right into the Dribbble and get impressed by those super fancy and artistic designs and most of them are not solving the actual problems at commercial or business level. Keep enlightening us! 👏

You & your beautiful wife are doing a great job Adrian, after learning from Flux Academy, Pait academy (SEO) the one thing was missing is Figma and now you have filled the gap very well. Thank you, looking forward to learning more from you. Also, it would be great if you can start a mini course on KZbin, sharing your complete business story in detail and how we can grow our business as a designer.

4:00 won't resizing to fit change element's proportions? 428px screen elements have the same size as in 375px. They will just adapt to it wide. Height will be the same. But when we do resizing to fit it will change everything
@uiadrian
@uiadrian Жыл бұрын
It will, yes, if the app is not using scalable font sizes. I always found the element's proportions (text especially) too big for smaller frames. With AirBnb for example, if you use their Title 3 font on an iPhone Mini the text size is 21pts, if you scale the screenshot down from 428px to 375px along with all elements, the heading 2 font size will be 18 pts. I'll address this in the follow up video. Thanks for pointing that out!

Thanks for the feedback! To everyone else reading this - as a hiring design lead with 8 years of experience I can confirm that everyone should! There are huge gaps in the understanding of good design principles and learning from pure theory doesn’t work.

@@uiadrian To everyone else reading this - as a hiring 3D generalist, designer and developer with 15 years of experience I can confirm that everyone shouldn't ! Understanding design and doing design are two totally different things. Copying others allows us to see but not to do! We are not talking about creating new trends or even getting an Awwward but simply making a design that works. Theory is not enough, but copying others without knowing what a visual hierarchy is and how it is created is a monumental waste of time. When I have a job interview with a candidate, I don't look at his diplomas but at what he knows and understands about design.
@uiadrian
@uiadrian Жыл бұрын
@@losing_interest_in_everything I think you missed the point here. I'm not saying anywhere this is the ONLY way to learn design. Greatest artists in the history of our modern world learned by copying others before going out and doing something by themselves. I meant that it's supplemental knowledge to your theory learnings. You can read all you want about white space and color theory, but it won't mean anything without practice. And how can you practice without any references? It's just a huge waste of time. Learn from the best, and when you're ready, design on your own. I agree with the last sentence, though. I even posted a Twitter thread a few days ago about this very statement. This is my advice, and I will always recommend it with all my heart since this approach let me work with billion-dollar companies and save me years of progress to get to where I'm now. If you disagree, create your own content and preach your learnings to your own audience. I won't reply to the next message; sorry, I'm a busy individual! Cheers!
