@studiomdesignsco hi..Thanks for all the knowledge you chose to share with us about how to run an Etsy POD business . In the description box I saw you have chase bank credit card to apply. I am very interested but I don't know what I need to have in place to qualify for it. Could you please do a dedicated video on how to apply and qualify for the card before starting POD business on ETSY? That is something I realize not a lot of Etsy sellers on KZbin talk about that. You actually need a credit card to run an Etsy business. What cards are best for Etsy business for beginners? I'll appreciate it if you did a video about it😊.

Hi Mandy, I'm one of your subscribers from across the pond in the UK and love your videos, your channel has been invaluable to me in my POD journey. I am in the process of creating designs before launching my Etsy shop. It’s a little slower than I’d like because I have a full-time job which I need to continue in order to support myself. I have been watching a lot of videos posted lately about Etsy shops being closed down because of using mock-ups other than your own images or those provided by your production partner and not from other sources. I’ve been using Place it to create mock-ups as I don’t want to have to use mock-ups from Printify, as there’s a limited choice and most have white backgrounds. I don’t want to have to create my own so would welcome your thoughts on this?

As always…Another great video Mandy!!!! Mandy do you have a video on: sleeve or neck designs? And for this one in particular how to do a bundle listing?? I have noticed those videos on YT, but they don’t go in depth well. Or how to allow your customer to know that either you have those designs in your store or will make it for them…and how they can make a bundle purchase? Variations? Would I write that in description (I know a lot of ppl don’t read them, but I don’t want anyone to get confused with their purchase…and is it ok to write on a separate thumbnail? Ive see it done, but I hear different opinions on if Etsy likes you to write much on thumbnails?? Trying to gain customers to a new shop is hard. Also while on this topic of confusion 😂 recently some people say we can’t use specific states, parks, ect? If I add in mock ups of complimentary products in A thumbnail for suggestions and say there are links in description or I offer them what is best way? Would I Ask them to leave questions in email via Etsy? That seems too much to ask! I know I can add in variations of other products and I want to do, but I fear I will mess it up although it’s basically a group type listing. I get overwhelmed being a newer shop that either they will not go into my shop since a lot of buyers don’t do that or think of it. I’ve heard a lot of people say…I didn’t know that people have shops 😂. I know this is a lot of questions, but these are some that are confusing to us and buyers. Some buyers don’t know the process to buy multiple items (add to cart, then go back and add to cart). While I don’t want to confuse them, I don’t want to do it wrong nor lose a sale bc I did that or they would buy complimentary products or just want it on another product. I’m not at the stage where I should take the time to list “one” design on multiple products yet without having any best sellers or having enough sales to add it-but I would definitely make it for them if they wanted it. I suppose the design placement video, bundling and customer options are the key points of this long, probably confusing comment! 😞 it’s hard to write a good question on the phone especially when if you make a mistake and fix it and then most of your comment looks like it disappears until you scroll! So sorry…you are a competitive person so I know you will be able to cipher out key points and whip this “mess” and be able to reply 😂😂 trying to make light of my lack of communication skills 😂 Thanks Mandy-you know I’m ALWAYS on here cheering you on!!!!❤

Hi Mandy! I’m seeing so many (if not most) Best Seller shirts with pricing under $10 (or btw $10-15) which leads me to believe that a great % of that status is due to “low hanging fruit” pricing vs. design/style. What is your take/opinion on how price is contributing to Best Sellers?

That’s what I really miss on Kittl … ability to have multiple designs in the same project. I like to make new copies while I’m designing something and testing different fonts etc. Kittl makes it so inconvenient needing to copy it to an all new design page. Forget about trying to make a group design with 30 variants on Kittl.

Hi Mandy, I have a general product store on Etsy and I've been running it for 3 years now and have 550 sales in total. I wanted to ask how important the branding is for POD. I do have a banner, logo and a picture of myself, shop announcement and story. Could having weak branding affect sales? Or do most buyers shop for the one item in their chosen niche mostly without looking at the finer details of the shop.

I keep all of my original designs saved in Canva (or Kittl), and my mockups saved as templates in Canva. I save them with descriptive titles, so if I ever need a final design or mockup set again (which isn’t often) I simply run a search and can find it in a few seconds. Saving with folders requires you remember the folder, sometimes something could fit in multiple places, etc. Searching ends up just being a much faster method, so I just do it that way. Don’t overthink your files for completed designs/mockups. You need them less than you think you will 😊

There are no definitive answers from Etsy on the recent deactivations. Their made-to-order policy (which is what POD is) does allow mockups, so this was not a ban on mockups. My most recent video talks about this a bit, but for now only time will tell.

I opened my shop two weeks ago and haven't made any sales yet, lol. Thank you so much for sharing informative videos. Do you recommend listing multiple products (such as sweatshirts, t-shirts, mugs, tote bags, etc.) in one listing if they share the same design? I've noticed that listing sweatshirts and shirts together in one listing can be confusing for some customers, and since Etsy shows only one picture for customers to see and click on to visit your shop, would it be better to create separate listings for each product? I'm aware that this might incur additional listing fees. What are your thoughts on this?

It means that Etsy staff have identified the listing as a good choice (and will sometimes include them in marketing campaigns). It’s helpful to see and pay attention to, but is not a guarantee of demand (I know some sellers who have even gotten the badge and it didn’t even boost their sales) 🤓

Do you still run your handmade business as well as your main POD shop, this channel (and your POD shop used for this channel)? Yep! Time blocks, calendars, and themed days! Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday during the day is my handmade biz, Thursdays are YT video recording days, and Fridays are often a mix of errands. My actual POD shops are mostly passive now (🎉), but when I was building them (and even now for like all the things I do for my membership group), it happens (mostly) on evenings and weekends and I block time based on what I need to get done and how much time I have available. Do you pull your design transparency down in Canva before downloading it? I never see any Kittl tutorials covering this, but I see KZbinrs always showing how they pull down the transparency to about 85% in Canva, never on Kittl. What am I missing here? It really bothers my brain not knowing lol. And do you make a folder for the "editable" designs? Is this what you are calling your finished designs? Thanks Mandy!
@studiomdesignsco
@studiomdesignsco Жыл бұрын
No, you don’t want to lower transparency on the design itself that goes to the print provider, this will cause a printing issue. You only lower transparency when you are placing it on a mockup (typically in Canva) so that it is more realistic. I don’t do my mockups in Kittl, so that’s why I don’t talk about it there 😅 And I don’t use folders, I just have everything saved in Canva and search by name as I need it - it’s faster than digging through folders (at least for my brain) 😊

I've been researching print on demand and a lot of the reviews aren't that great. They comment that the printing is faded, blurry or cut off. So I went into community groups and they talk about all these print on demand companies, especially printing, being very inconsistent with quality. I spent a lot of time designing products to sell on etsy and now I am terrified to do it. The ones that do it themselves also make more money. Kid of feeling discouraged at this point.
@studiomdesignsco
@studiomdesignsco Жыл бұрын
Providers like Printify have millions of sellers and their printers are processing thousands of products a day - what we see in social media groups is a small fraction of that. And negativity in general will always be the loudest voice in a room. That doesn’t mean it’s not valid or frustrating when an issue happens for those sellers, but you do have to keep it in perspective when making a decision for your own products. Don’t get discouraged- there are still plenty of good things happening with most suppliers, you just don’t hear about them because those are “normal”. The product reviews on sites are super helpful (and many are positive experiences) - but I always recommend trying at least one sample of what you’re selling as well so that you can see what your customer is getting and can use that as the basis for decision making for your business. I’ve sold multiple thousands of sweatshirts and tshirts over the course of 18ish months and the percentage of issues I’ve encountered is very small. That’s not to say issues don’t ever happen (and of course it’s frustrating when they happen, I get that), but they do not happen as often as posts may lead you to believe. Outsourcing production of a product you sell always comes with a risk no matter who you use - and even the good ones have bad days. I run a handmade business as well and dealing with issues when they come is part of running a business. And while the profit margin may appear higher with handmade, there are LOTS of other factors to consider (I pay for shipping materials, marketing materials, packing supplies, and not to mention the value of my time in handling fulfillment myself). There’s no wrong choice, it’s just a matter of deciding what’s best for what you ultimately want for your business. Hope that helps offer some perspective! 💜

Hi Mandy, I Need Your Help. I'm in need of your assistance concerning one of my Etsy products. The product in question is titled "Merry and Bright Glitter Letter Patch Sweatshirt." Additionally, I've used the term "Chenille Patch Shirt" in the product tags, and I believe there may be some confusion. The primary issue here is that the product features a screen-printed design in PNG format rather than an actual glitter patch. A customer recently made a purchase from my Etsy shop and has now requested a refund due to a misunderstanding related to the terms "glitter patch" and "Chenille Patch." It's important to note that my Etsy shop clearly states a policy of "Returns & exchanges not accepted." Despite this policy, I genuinely want to resolve this situation amicably. However, as it's my first time dealing with such an issue, I'm uncertain about the best course of action. I would greatly appreciate your guidance and suggestions.

Unfortunately this is one where you’ll probably run into issues if you use that wording since there are so many handmade shops actually using real patches given the current trend for them. Most customers do not understand the difference from a picture (or don’t read descriptions enough to realize it). If it were me I’d probably be inclined to give at least a partial refund to the customer, and consider it a lesson learned and potentially change up the title or design so that it doesn’t create future issues.

There are several related ones out there but none of them that I saw are specifically for the clothing class (025). There is one with 025 out there, but it is only an application, which means it’s not registered and still available to use 😊
