Passed my journeyman test almost 2 years ago, prepping for my masters test soon! Took a bunch of practice tests and looked through the code book multiple times. I also wrote down a lot of notes on questions I got wrong with the correct answers from the practice tests. I reviewed these materials almost every night for a week or two before my test. took my journeyman in AL 2 years ago. I wasn't nervous going in, because I had prepared for months. I knew I passed before I got done. It was an open book test, and we are allowed to write in pen or install permanent tabs in the book. I took the opportunity to write down the location and description of each table (not the appendices) on a blank page in the back of the book. Although there was still a lot of flipping around in the book, it saved me a lot of time in locating the correct table. I make my 1st master attempt in 8 days. My company will pay for it as many times as needed, but I aim to impress my bosses. shooting for that first test to be my last.

Really impressed with all of your videos! I don’t leave comments! And for me to leave one is a big deal! I have seen 4 of them now and my wife is annoyed because she wants my attention. I’m great full for what I learned from them. I got into plumbing latter in life . After 2008 crash, plumbing just landed on my lap. Getting older and really need to get these test done. But after my dad duties -marriage duties and working 2 plumbing jobs in new construction and service plumbing . I find myself overwhelmed ! adding exams and figuring out how to start a plumbing company is to much for me! But I know I need to do my own thing. Been way too many times employers decided to hire younger guys that they can pay less. In my town doing your own company is only way to go. You can’t work for a company if you have a family to take care of! because they always need try and hold on to every cent that they can. Each time you work your way up and things going smooth then that’s the beginning of the end. I’m tired of the up and down and so is my family. Not to mention the financial stress it brings !And having to move to a new company . Sorry for long comment but just happy to find a video to guide and help keep the dream alive. Hey Roger!! So my brother took his journey man license test today for the 2nd time here in Indiana. He failed it by 2 questions the 1st time he took it a few months ago. He scored a little worse today when he took the test. When he received the email with his results it basically shows 7 or 8 categories and how well you did in each area. His weaknesses were DFU's and Fixtures for sure. He was pretty strong every where else. He has been with My Carter plumbing here in Indianapolis for over 5 years now. Do you have any advice for him as it pertains to DFU's and Fixtures specifically??! Thanks for any advice Roger!!!
@wendymckinzie33662 жыл бұрын
When it comes to DFUs, look at Table 709.1 in the code book. It shows all of the DFUs (and minimum trap size) for each fixture. Then Tables 710.1(1) and 710.1(2) show how many DFUs can run on a single diameter of pipe and at what slope. These three tables will help with figuring out the Drainage aspect. When it comes to the vent, he'll have to jump to table 916.1 to figure out sizing and max DFUs allowed and the max developed length of vent at each size of pipe. Everything I've been told is that you work on the riser diagram first, then go to the code questions. If you fail the riser, you fail the whole test. Hi Roger, I’m taking my Journeyman WSPS Endorsement Test on Jan 27th. And my Masters Exam February 17th. I am overwhelmed with me having 4 Generations of Texas MP before me. I have a couple uncles with their MPL. I’m the only Journeyman 34yrs old. It is a HUGE deal. Plumbers like you inspire me to push myself (not a patient person) and be the best. Any words of Wisdom?

I am a journeyman plumber in Missouri looking to move to Texas. Any recommendations on how I can go about getting licensed in Texas? If possible I would like to be licensed in Texas before I move so I can quickly get a great job. Thanks!!

Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, check in online, their office is in Austin. if you are a veteran, they offer a bit of licensing reciprocity.

I'm looking to take my Florida exam but I'm kind of confused all the links drag me into a thing called a contractor's license and I'm looking just to get a plumber's license is it the same
@hook_n_shot31384 жыл бұрын
The State of Florida does not issue a statewide journeyman license. A journeyman plumber license in Florida is issued by the local municipality, either city or county, depending on location. The Certified Plumbing Contractor license issued by the State of Florida is equivalent to a Master Plumber license in other states enabling the license holder to pull permits and work anywhere in the state as a contractor.

Hey Roger, I'm an apprentice plumber for quite a while now, and I've taken my plumbing test back in 2013. I've passed my written, passed the Doll house, but failed the shop portion by 1 point. since then I've done other types of jobs in the past due to health reasons. and now I'm back into plumbing work. my question to you sir is this, refresher course? does the plumbing board provide anything like that or do I have to ask my company to see if they have anything for Apprentices to practice before taken the exams?

Not all plumbing exams are the same, PSI is a company owned by amazon that provides tests for multiple states. For those who have to use the PSI testing system I feel very sorry for you. For other who have a state given test by true professionals, your experience taking the test will feel much better. PSI facilities are poorly taken care of, some of the question you are give are more of a best answer instead of right answer. Trick questions that's are very well disguised are also in the test which is very unprofessional. I really wish we could all adopt the UPC all around the country and make it a lot easier of young plumbers. Its a very large time commitment and choice to be a plumber, at the very least plumbing boards should be figuring out ways to create more successful testing environments. Unless the world just wants less professional plumbers.
