In this instance we’re referring to dealers buying calls from investors who are selling those calls. In those cases, dealers would need to hedge by selling futures or SPY shares for example.

How do you know if dealers are holding short calls to hedge buy shares or wether they are holding long calls to hedge short shares? OI and Gex levels dont tell you that. But it mskes the world of difference in terms of how levels become manets or not
