Yes it was just waiting for that switch on time. The lake had been drained and filled with surrounding ponds that were full of ice water so it was a bit more of a shock than usual for the fish.

Nice one Steve , I was fishing my french lake that week, it was really tough conditions with ice on the water for a week , suddenly , I had 3 bites in an afternoon after 6 days . We can’t make them feed . Lovely fish

2021 I could do no wrong with fish after fish, even had 3 at one time at one point. Last year 2022 I caught 1 carp? 1 carp all year lol... but I did get some record catfish just to rub it in on me... I'm definitely gonna hope for more this year. Beautiful fish congratulations

Out of interest Steve, whats the reasoning behind the rods up, especially on a small water?

Mainly just because there were four rods on that small platform and any hooked fish kiting across is much easier to deal with than with the lines down, same with the bait boat. Just force of habit too, I fish that way for the majority of the time.
