He was is the father of the electric guitar. I often wonder what great things he would have gone on to do and he not sadly died so young. Thanks for the comment!

Great lesson, Andy. There is so much to learn from Charlie Christian, who has been such a huge influence on all the greatest guitarists you can name, from Barney Kessel, Joe Pass, Les Paul, Wes Montgomery, George Benson, and many more. His short career has a miraculous quality to it, in that everything he ever recorded was done within a period of only about six years, from when he was about 19 to when he died at the age of only 26. We can only imagine the great music that he would have recorded had he lived. Charlie Christian was and remains a "musician's musician" to this very day and learning some of his licks and solos is one of the most educational things a guitar player can do, no matter what style you play.

The names you mention in your comment say it all! I'm still planning to transcribe everything he recorded. About 35 % of the way through it at the moment and he continues to amaze and surprise me.

At first glance it is easy to overlook how much you can learn from this solo. But on closer inspection you see how CC was a master. Great breakdown!

Mine is a L50 conversion, but it fits the bill for me and cost a lot less than a 150.
