I really loved this book as well! And that first part definitely put me off, but after that it was golden. I never felt like the story and its flow was disjointed. And the whole ghost aspect totally worked. As you said, this book is ultimately about books and stories. I live in Wisconsin where we have a rich native history. Look up photos of pow wows along with native ceremonial dress. So beautiful. I tell everyone they need to read this book. I’m so glad you loved this! And DEFINITELY read Sorrow and Bliss! It’s so good!

Carlye, I live "across the pond" but order via Book Depository because 1) the UK covers are so much prettier than US covers and 2) I've never received a damaged book from BD and conversely get a damaged book every other order from Amazon. Are there other Book sellers who ship internationally now that Amazon has decided to close BD?

I think Blackwell’s still do free international shipping so you could try them? I’ve never had a damaged book from them either and they are pretty good!
