In this video, we will look at another novel by Raja Rao i.e. The Serpent And The Rope. It's a Sahitya Akademi winner of 1964. The plot is sort of semi-autobiographical. The story has many themes such as seeking spiritual attainment, East meeting West as the central character of the novel, Ramaswamy, leaves India to stay in France to find meaning of true love and to understand many existential crises under various circumstances. The Serpent and the Rope won Sahitya Akademi Award in 1963, not in 1964. There was no award distribution for English Literature in 1964. Kindly edit your video.
