Insane how bad tarkov runs nowadays. I used to be able to run it on a 3gb 1060 and a ryzen 1600 and I had better performance back then than I do now on my 12gb 6700xt and 5600. I get some maps have been reworked, but the performance has plummeted every patch even when there weren't map reworks. Reserve, for example, hasn't been touched in 4-5 years but runs many times worse than it used to.

I just recently upgraded my pc again after a few years. I went from 64gbs of ddr4 ram to 32gbs of DDR5. cant run streets anymore because of that. it eats 30 gbs of my ram

I’ve played EFT for around 800 ish hours , and I’m so fucking tired of just dealing with BS performance dude. My PC is mid, 8gb 3050, i3 13100f 16 gb ram, whatever. (this comment is not targetted at the video or the channel, just general tarkov community) its so odd.. wipes ago when i complained about performance becoming significantly worse every wipe, i was ignored and shunned and people were telling me to "upgrade my pc" , sure ive got i3 7100 and gtx1050, but tarkov has neither super high poly geometry not super high res textures, and i play games with far better performance, texture quality (higher res) and overall quality at stable 60+fps. I would really love to play this game but even a few wipes ago i had 40-50fps on lowest settingns 1080p with fsr 2 balanced... and let alone i cant play streets, even in the first iteration. but in the initial phase of streets, if i spawned in with 0 bots, (and offline match was server side), then i could actually run streets (the smallest version) at 45fps avg... the only thing that kills my fps on live streets is actually the massive amount of bots and pmcs.. and as streets got larger, i obviously cant even try offline match with 0 bots enabled at all.. now it got to the point where even people with top tier setups are getting double digits % performance decrease per wipe and its funny that NOW they are complaining about performance instead of getting better rigs... ironic yall told me to upgrade, but you wont upgrade your own computer..

I have a problem with texture flickering(?) I mean it basicly looks like the all the trees, grass and edges of things are shimmering black and white once I move or they move.. I tried turning PostFX off, on with various tweaks, any "fixes" I found on the web and so on.. Best effect I get is while using DLSS on quality, but its still there.. Im playing 1080p on a 3060ti paired with a 5800x3d. I tried it with different monitors, different cables and so on.. I clearly see in the video that its not there.. What the hell am I doing wrong, the problem persists for 5 years now, even after upgrading my cpu and gpu...

What does ur FPS look like in a live raid? I have a 7950x3D, 7900xtx, and 32gb ram at 6000mhz, and on Customs i struggle to get 90 fps around the garage where you were testing the PostFX. I have almost the exact same settings, only difference is my shadows were on medium quality, but dropping that only gave me like 10 fps. Customs dips into 80s all the time. Where last wipe customs was a 180+ fps map for me.

Has anyone else notice significantly better FPS when using Borderless mode instead of Fullscreen mode? I am talking about 90 FPS in borderless vs 60 in Fullscreen. It doesn't make sense to me how there is such a difference, and fullscreen usually is the one with better performance. But this is Tarkov I guess.

Even with 24gb of vram and 64gb of system ram (work PC), maps like Streets will be using over 36gb total for textures alone. Passing between vram and ram is helped a ton with a x3d chip, but on a regular CPU it's bad. Medium textures with Streets lower tex res mode is really all you can do right now for the smoothest gameplay.

The checkered / cross hatching rendering effect is by far the most immersion breaking graphical issue right now for me. Depending on the object the effect will appear at extremely close distances. Specifically certain objects are way more prone to this (spools for example). I don't remember it being this bad, the object will appear crisp and then 1 step back it becomes a checkered transparent mess.

As of the start of the wipe, I am running 16GB of RAM (3600 MHz) and having auto RAM cleaner enabled was causing extreme hitching for me on my low-mid tier system. I'd definitely recommend keeping it off (and doing as you said in the video) if this is happening to others.

I have an 8gb card (3070) and high textures hasn’t been an issue for me. I have 32gb of ram to help. I typically use a weird setup. I use NVIDIA DLDSR at I think it’s like 2660p? That’s downscaled to 1080p for my monitor of course. Then I use DLSS Quality. This results in a very crisp image with the same performance that I get at native 1080p. I actually run the game at very close to max settings while leaving the LOD and Overall Visibility at default and get basically no difference in frames compared to low settings. It’s clear that I have a CPU bottleneck based on that. Unfortunately the game doesn’t really have multithreading support so that probably won’t stop being an issue any time soon

Shadow quality is especially important with foliage. And there is an additional setting called "grass shadows". Even if it impacts your performance I would recommend to leave it at high since for me it has the biggest impact on spotting enemies clearly.

It is crazy to me that i used to run tarkov barely above 60fps with a 2060 and an i5 10400f, recently i completely changed the setup to 32gb of ram, a 4060ti and a ryzen 7 5700X3d and now in this wipe my fps are over 100 but there are crazy drops to 60 or lower on some maps, this wipe REALLY sucks in terms of performance, i don't even think i would've been able to play comfortably with my old setup

That checkerboard effect (during the LOD segment 13:38) is called 'dithering'. It basically allows half of the texture to be loaded. It's supposed to be used in conjunction with TAA, because TAA's smoothing effect will fill the empty spaces of the dithered texture. You can see a LOT of this dithered technique in RDR2. Also, fuck TAA.

Each update: 2 steps backward at this point. I have Rtx 3080 (12 GB), upgraded to 64 GB DDR4 (for this game), 11700KF and was able to get 60-100 fps on 3440x1440 on PVE on high. After this patch: micro stuttering, FPs drops below 40 A LOT. Ambient map Sound disappears after I use sights on any weapon for rest of the game. Can’t play any PVE matches with my friends online (disconnection issues). So now solution is for me to set everything to lowest setting to have playable frames? I guess I’ll stop playing until it’s fixed

Changing from Fullscreen to Borderless gave me +10-15 fps no matter of map or what is going on on the map. Some people say that's unity 2022 bug. Also previous wipe the difference between Binaural ON and OFF was 20 fps loss. But now its enabled by default, and changing it in %appdata% Sound.ini to false seems to make no difference :(

Their coding has to be a mess of spaghetti. I have a r7 5800x3d, RTX 4080 super and 32gb ram and drop under 60 fps constantly wherever players or scavs are. If I'm off in a corner and there isn't shooting going on I'm at 144fps. I've looked at my gpu and cpu usage and both of them don't exceed 50% of usage with high textures, shadows and clouds taa high. I had to enable amd fsr 2.0 to performance to help dipping below 60 fps and it looks the same

I am so sick and tired of feeling like I’m getting 30 fps every single raid. And every single fight, the second I shoot, I drop down to like 10 until the shooting is over. LOD controls the rendering of people at a distance, at 2 settings, you will not see people further than 125 meters (a conditional value, because I forgot the real values) . And that was initially the case, as soon as Tarkov appeared.

20:18 I'm one of such people who uses, in my case - FSR, as a substitute AA method. To combat the lower-than-native rendering resolution i run Tarkov at higher-than-native resolution. So, in my case, i have 1080p monitor and run Tarkov in 1440p + FSR quality. This does loose me some GPU performance, but it does give a much better picture and i'm CPU bottlenecked (as we all are in Tarkov). Note: you (or, at least, i) have to also set the system res to Tarkov res for this (with lower-than-Tarkov system res it won't work in Borderless, and with higher-than-Tarkov system res, as of this wipe, i get a massive FPS drop in Borderless), but i'm willing to change system res every time i start and end my Tarkov sessions in order to get an image that has good AA and also doesnt have blur all over it.

I have insane stutters after like 10 seconds in every raid for about 15 seconds, then it goes back to normal. Since my 3080 only has 10gb, i guess it is related to that?

If its at the beginning of the raid, it's most likely all the AI spawning in. Raids don't start with AI, after a couple moments all the AI load in. In some instances this is why it feels like Scavs spawn on top of you. This is also why you'll get occasional stutters throughout the raid, AI waves spawning in. Some wipes ago due to optimization issues you could tell if the boss was on the map or not based upon if you got packet loss during this beginning stutter.

Just to add onto the cloud quality I play ona 5800x3d and a 6600xt and when I set clouds to low I got the most insain freezing when I ads with a scope for at least 2/4 seconds. I found setting it to high also fixed it (for me at least). and yeah VRAM usage is tough this patch for sure. Thanks for all the hard work you do!

the leaps and bounds that I see in my FPS is what I notice the most this wipe. I do thing you did a good job of explaining what can be causing that. Its so weird on medium without dlss or amd I get 50-60 fps. cpu chills at 20-25% and gpu at 60-70% with 7/8gb vram usage. with dlss/amd I gain 20 fps and cpu goes up to~30% gpu stays more at 60% and I lose 200 mb vram usage. this is on ground zero. I made some of your tweaks. I might try to manually assign cores, but since my CPU doesn't do anything, I'm not expecting anything from it. It just feels like the game isn't using the resources it has well, is there even anything I could do about it just from changing ingame/pc settings?

The Vsync trick of enabling in game, disabling in Nvidia made my game completely unplayable this wipe where my character was walking in quicksand unless I stared at the ground while running. I would take 2 steps forward 1 backwards, my gun barrel was spazzing all over the screen, I thought it was issues with the patch and server lag... but unchecking Vsync in game magically fixed my problem.

I have massive problems with shadows flickering in the distance in trees and other objects, but especially noticeable in trees when it is sunny in game. I could not figure out what was causing this. Do you use NVIDIA Control Panel at all in Tarkov? Using 3 LOD and 1500 view distance in game. Low shadows, but changing this to high did not help at all, it doesn't seem to be connected to it in anyway. I have not played this new wipe yet but will be trying it out later today to see if it still exists. I hope not, because I really hate when it is sunny in game and it casts shadow on objects further away because the shadow flickering in distance becomes so obvious it just straight up annoys me. Have you heard of something like this before?

While in game in a raid, I have to press Escape, go on Graphics settings and just click on Save, I get back to the game and my FPS are then way better. I have to do this every raid. Tarkov is totally screwed up

5:55 Note that this will likely affect RAM usage even if VRAM does not overflow. Remember, things that end up in the VRAM pass through the RAM first. Your CPU can't load directly into VRAM from disk. DirectStorage may potentially impact this, but doubt Tarkov even uses it. Note also that low texture quality tends to improve stream quality as there is less of a need for compression (since there's less detail in the image and the base image is of lower size already). It especially helps blockiness when you look around in darker areas. Particularly noticeable in places like Factory. 18:40 The reason not to run this at high is better stream quality as mentioned earlier less detail in the game = more detail in the stream. But for pure gaming, no reason.

@@HayzStreams I tried going into an offline factory and couldn't get it to blur- I *was* using a m700 though so maybe I need some guns that sit closer to the shoulder. I swear its like they add these settings to the bottom and just don't touch them. MIP Streaming has also been virtually unusable for at least a year and a half and they've just left it. While 0.16 ruined it for me (even trading, inventory, hideout was sluggish, Customs outright unplayable), i can report today's update (0.16.02) solved it all for me. Whatever BSG did - its buttery smooth again, like with 0.15. While VRAM usage is still unusally high - it almost seems it not only allocates, but actually fills almost all of the available vram - that was not the problem (for me at least). Still need to check out the effect of "preload hideout" - as in hideout/menu, ample vram usage is already there (around 9g upon fresh game start, menu screen, not having touched anything to ~13g when in hideout). Though silky smooth scrolling through traders/inventory (guess those textures/all the items are loaded in vram as well) + hideout runs@capped 144fps. fyi settings/setup: 3440x1440 gsync/144 (+ 1440p monitor vertical + small 720p monitor for - monitoring/aida64 panel), all gfx maxed out xcept vis on 2000 (high/ultra/LOD4/the rest on max./no dlss, grass shadows/hq colour/zblur ticked). Recently newly built am5 rig (64G gskill 6000, 9800X3D, MSI Carbon Wifi X870E), Asus Strix 4090 from the previous rig. With those max. settings and filled up to the brim in vram (~23gb), customs runs smooth (from capped 144 down to ~50 (still smooth thx to gsync) with frostbite + lots of ai in the new warehouse areas), very flat frametimes/no spikes/stutters, with the 4090 hovering around 30-70% usage (equals 150-350W / around only 65°C with fans barely spinning). And the cpu noticeably working busily. But way better and heaps faster/smoother than the 5800X3D i upgraded from (also 64g and the 4090 in it). Yes, EFT is a primarily cpu bound game...like TW Warhammer 1 (compared to TW WH 3 - that could run on a wet potato). Some notes (don't shoot the messenger - hate the game called life): a) it's not 2018 anymore. If you do anything serious with your rig (e.g. also working), 32G is starting to be not enough anymore. The "16G is enough" videos from a lot of tech-tubers over the last 2 years - all big BS. Except you keep doing/playing old stuff that actually doesnt need more. But when even smartphones have 12-16g ram nowadays... 2x24g is the sweetspot/budget concious choice to retain dual channel speed and be over that 32g limit (that not only eft, but more and more recent games tend to crack) , 64g+ the smart choice. b) As ex-mil now sports/competition shooter and having platforms also depicted in eft (AUG, AKM, G17, B92X and more), i can assure: using those weapons irl....even excluding the initial weapon purchase costs: fees, associations, ammo, personal and weapon gear, travel expenses, repairs/spare parts, optics....thats x times more costly than the pixel hobby version. e.g. box of 1000x M193 5,56/7,62x39 or 3000x 9mm here in Europe - around what a 4070 S costs. But gone in 6 months max. In a very entertaining manner, but still evaporated. Considering 338 Lapua? That's 100 USD - for 20x "bang". If you go quality factory ammo (and choose not to waste your lifetime beeing a brass collecting goblin. So, beeing a scav basically). Seriously - even the 5090 will be a bargain/"wise" investment compared to the (pretty addictive) real thing... ;-)

Any idea why I get micro stutters on 7800x3d, 7900xtx, 32GB ram, 2x m.2. I get these stutters since like forever I believe. I had them on previous setups with intel and nvidia. Drives me crazy because my friends either lie or do not experience the same thing. I feel like I tried literally every single possible way to fix it with no luck. PS amd gpu overlay shows a lot of 0.7-2.8% micro stutters, I dont even need the software to tell me that as it's very noticable without it

Game is running worse for me, I use to be able to maintain 100+ fps consistently with high graphical settings but now I constantly dip down to 60 fps depending on where I am on the map even after lowering settings which makes no sense.

Your CPU won't use 8 cores fully. The main game thread will hit 100% but you won't see it unless you open hwinfo. The main settings that affect GPU are HBAO and SSR. Leave SSR on ultra and use between ultra and high performance for HBAO depending on the map. Aim for 100-120 FPS.

Great video. I just hate it as for each wipe I'm on the edge of my seat wondering if my FPS will go down (shocker, it did). A few wipes ago I could run all maps, excluding Streets, at around 110-130 fps depending in the map. Now I mostly play from 70-90 fps. The new parts of Customs run at around 50-65 fps. I'm playing on an I7-11700k, RX6900 XT, 32GB running at 3200mhz. I've not changed anything about my system, even when I had decent FPS a few wipes ago, and I feel like the game is forcing me to switch to Ryzen's X3D chips. Tarkov is like an abusive ex, no matter how bad, I always keep coming back...
