The most amazing SFX is that filter that makes it look as if it was not shot in HD. Where can I get that filter? I want to get that effect on EVERYTHING I watch! Honest...

Interesting to note that Peter "Oily" Wragg was considered the best at flying the models, as he was the one that few the Thunderbirds all those years back standing on a scaffold plank. RIP

His son posted a photo of him flying Thunderbird 2 on a plank, easily 20ft up in the air, just a couple of C clamps holding it on to the scaffold. What a guy, and much missed.

@@leatherworkstation He was considered the best at it, so when they started Captain Scarlet, he headed the specialised "flying unit" just for doing that stuff. That said, Derek Meddings also used to do his fair share of dangling off a scaffold plank.

So sad they had to build a new Red Dwarf model after the original broke sometime during the earlier series. Only to blow it up for "Demons & Angels". But at least they managed to take new exterior footage for Series V after III and IV only featured stock footage. Plus being without a Red Dwarf model allowed the VI story arc with the guys stranded on Starbug searching for Red Dwarf.

This will allways be my favorite serie, next to robot wars. Great work :)

I wonder if they ever considered making an all rubber version of Starbug so if it fell while flying it would be more likely to bounce and maybe not break up quite so badly?

Thank you guys so much. I'm sure these messages don't get to the creators, but even then thank you for sharing this.

I visited the BBC VFX unit at Acton in 1989, and I met Peter Pegrum who ran the vfx dept. I was being shown around and saw these strange angle poise lamp like robots! Then in a small studio area Peter introduced me to Rocky and a few others, he explained they had just filmed a spaceship blowing up, as the floor was littered with little bits of model kits all painted red. I didn’t know it at the time, but of course this was all for a recently made series called Red Dwarf, which soon became one of my all time favourite shows. I wish I’d have nicked some of those red bits off the floor as a momento!

Where can I find a sound effect of Red Dwarf's noise? The sound of the actual ship, that deep ambience.

It's two years later BUT if your still looking the DVD Blu Ray title menus tend to be on this theme.
