I don't think Severion is overtly evil. He has a code he lives by and not a wonton killer. He has a conscious and just seems like he was trying to eek out a living as an executioner. He didn't have parents and was basically raised by that trade. For the most part he kinda goes with the flow. He does have to deal with the consequences of his actions which usually a situation which he picks the lesser of two evils. But, I will admit the scene where he took advantage Jolenta was very questionable. I love hearing about other peoples impressions of the series. Keep on keeping on buddy.

Great video. Your passion has made me want to give this series anothet try. I dnfed Shadow earlier this year. Between the challenging nature of it and my own predisposition of being a mood reader i tossed in the towel, however i thought id probably give it another go sometime in the future. I am nothing if not hard headed. I gave up Curse of the Mistwraith twice now but still plan on giving it anothet go one day just because i liked the prose, even if the plot bored me to tears.

Wolfe is definitely worth the effort. My two pieces of advice if you found it particularly challenging is read to the end of at least the main four, but preferably Urth too. The books make much more sense upon completion than in the middle. But just as importantly, use the audiobooks if you can. It really makes the language that much more understandable.

It definitely is a tough read. I equate it to the soulsborne game series (like Dark Souls and Elden Ring). Yeah it's tough but you put all the work in and when you see how things come together it's like beating a crazy tough boss. I had to reread a lot of chapters as I was going along. I personally think a video on the lore and mysteries would be a banger, appealing to die hard Wolfe fans.

Wolf is truly just playing a different game.

The gem is not that big. He compares it to the diameter of an orichalk in the book. If it is like a large dollar coin, of Wolfe's time when writing the books, then it should have a diameter of 38mm. That is still a very large sapphire, if you compare it to more typical diameters of sapphire gems.

He should of invested the coin he got in Game Stop. Or maybe tipped the naked guy yelling about the Tokoloshe.
