@Roger Clemons ATF violated their own safety regulations by surrounding the compound with Koresh inside. Under the circumstances, it looks like President Clinton had ordered them to do it that way intending to trap him inside so he would set up a hold out. This guaranteed that they would be on TV every night as long as the hold out lasted. Why would they do such a thing? The only plausible explanation is he wanted a PR stunt to kick off the first bit of legislation, the Assault Weapons Ban. The neat thing is that most of the people who took part in the planning stage are now safely retired. They can testify without fear of repercussions....

Jari Haukilahti Yeah and that mindset leads to what we see all across Europe. Violent ideologies doing what they want without the threat of law enforcement.. just because it could escalate things (arab clans in Berlin, no go zones in Belgium, mafia in Eastern Europe). @Fortescue First off, stockpiling firearms and ammunition is not illegal, plain and simple. Secondly, *ANY* restriction on the right to keep and bear arms is an infringement on the second amendment, Its almost like they wrote it in a way to imply its the second most important rule of law. Lastly, putting the lives of hundreds of people at risk for the crime of pedophilia is an unbelievably irresponsible use of force. There is no way to justify what happened there. Those that justify the actions of those federal agents and label them a domestic terrorist group clearly have a cowardly tolerance for tyranny.

After watching the Netflix series, I'm too conflicted to make a definitive judgment on either Koresh and the Davidians or the ATF and FBI. There were clearly very serious and systematic human rights abuses going on in that compound/commune, led by a charismatic cult leader--and no one should tolerate that in the name of religious freedom. However, these government agents murdered innocent people, including children, in a failed attempt to control public relations. Like Mr. Thibodeau in recent statements, I do not condone the militarization of the police.

After watching this Netflix series, i can say you were given a highly skewed story of events. U Say there were "clearly" human rights abuses... but it wasn't clear; it was alleged and investigated. Cps did prior visits, interviews with parents and children snd found no evidence of abuse. They use trigger words that urself is passing along.. i.e. compound and cult. A cult is simply a group of ppl with same beliefs. He may have radical beliefs but the way they portray koresh is libel- they claim they committed criminal acts by killing 4 agents.. no they were in self-defense. remember: the feds had no probable cause that the Davidians had illegal firearms. They had their own firing range which was completely legal according to texas state law, and the FDA was called out due to an anonymous phone call that someone believed they heard "automatic fire"(several firearms going off simultaneously can cause that effect, also, how would an anonymous caller know what automatic fire truly sounded like aside from vicarious info like movies and television?). The compound was raided without a warrant, and the assault force was fought off. Then the FBI got involved. They then resulted to burn the entire compound. The gas canisters held a chemical agent that would leave behind a film after the gas dissipates, the film is also highly flammable. Once they began flash-banging the rooms, it ignited the gas. during the congressional hearings the fbi reveals that they had four cameras set up in a house across the street reporter requests tapes with a FOIA request "OOPS! all four tapes were misplaced after the raid!" Davidians claim that the front door to the compound was closed and that agents fired through it, initiating the shootout presence of bullet holes would corroborate this account congressman requests to see door ATF claims it burned up in the fire reporter claims that the door was seen in a panning shot when the local news were filming the evidence locker "oops I guess we misplaced it" Davidians claim that they were being fired upon from a sniper nest in a structure adjacent to their compound FBI denies this vehemently during the congressional hearing a photograph taken from the perspective of the sniper's nest is discovered "Oh, yeah we had a guy up there but we promise that he never actually fired any shots. He was there just in case." reporter comes forward with footage of spent .308 casings on the floor of the structure after the raid The FBI doesn't even have a response to this the sniper that they used during this siege was the same sniper used in Ruby Ridge, the man who shot and killed an innocent woman as she was tending to her children.

All of those things made them look bad so OF COURSE burning them all and going overboard is the answer to their ego being bruised. A few questions for the Federal Government: 1) How do you justify sending 100 armed agents to enforce a $200 tax fine on a ½ in shotgun barrel? 2) Explain the necessity of unloading over 7,000 armor piercing rounds into a 50 year old wooden structure filled with women and children 3) Why did you lie to the Texas National Guard in obtaining their helicopter gunships? They’re only authorized for Federal use in drug raids 4) Why did you hold back the Fire department for over 30 minutes while the building burned? Was it because you didn’t want any survivors telling another story? You knew that CS gas mixed with fire is fatally poisonous in less than a minute. Say what you want about the David Koresh and the branch dividians but they were on a compound not harming anyone else. Even if they were it wasn’t equal to what the Federal government did and to this day have never took responsibility for this unnecessary tragedy.

Should I be able to buy grenades and rocket launchers and fully automatic guns with huge magazines? Or should we only be able to buy small caliber revolvers or bolt action rifles? 1. While there is no proof of either side's account, the ATF is most likely to have shot first. This is because the tape of this whole shootout was seemingly "lost" although authorities probably stole and destroyed it. 2. Throughout the 50 day period, the FBI used psychological torture methods to target innocent children and in turn convince parents to leave the building. This was an unsanctioned tactic that led to exactly ZERO punishment for those involved. 3. When the assault occurred (because it WAS an assault by any definition except the one the Gov wants to use, given that tanks were literally dismantling the building itself), Tear gas was used by the Feds who KNEW from countless previous events that it would always lead to the building catching fire. As of a result, roughly just 10 people made it out alive. Over 20 children died from flames and tear gas, along with most of their own mothers and fathers. And after everything, the Gov literally blamed the people who had been living with those children for years. Were there some murders within the group at that final hour? Absolutely, but it totals up to about 7. The vast majority of blood is on the Government's hands and it's heartbreaking and infuriating that the top-level law enforcement of the United States is responsible for this. The individuals involved in the final scheme should've been tried for crimes against humanity and/or domestic terrorism.
