Comicgeddon TV
Mission Statement:
In 1991, Wizard Magazine launched and with it the support of new publishers such as Valiant and Image grew. Wizard Magazine was a new type of magazine for all geek culture. They focused not just on comics, but on toys, on interviewing creators, on movies, trading cards, games, books, tv shows and alot more. In March 2011, Wizard collapsed. They tried to relaunch as an online geek culture magazine but ultimately failed and continued strictly with conventions.
Why Wizard magazine failed is because at the time of their drastic decline, people began going to youtube and comicbookmovie.com for everything they recieved from the publisher. It was free and they could interact with the community. With Comicbookmovie.com anyone could create an article and share it with the community and if it was well recieved it got front page status. It's very similar with youtube. Only rather than creating an article, creators launch video channels. Most channels revolve around 1 thing and 1 thing only. Today there are hundreds of channels in the geek culture niche which focus on either comic books or movie reviews or toy reviews or tv show reviews or funko pops or interviews or fantasy battles.
However, none of these channels bring all of those things together like Wizard magazine did Successfully for almost 20 years. This is where Comicgeddon TV breaks away from the crowd. We are a small youtube channel with big ideas. From the very beginning, I dreamed of making Comicgeddon an evolved form of Wizard Magazine. I wanted to appeal to the youtube generation.
Comicgeddon TV, brings something to the community that was lost when Wizard Magazine became an exclusive convention promoter. And even now, Conventions are occurring to often they're losing attendance. But Comicgeddon TV is there to fill the gap.
We focus on Dramatically narrating comic books panel by panel in a similar manner as Comicstorian.
We focus on bringing to you the history of lesser known characters and publishers similar to Comics Explained.
We focus on bringing you Toy and Funko Pop Reviews in the same manner as The Review Spot.
We focus on comic book reviews in the same manner as Caped Joel.
We Focus on TV show and Movie Reviews similar to Jeremy Jahns or Chris Stuckmann.
We focus on Horror like Hermie and StitchedTogetherPics.
While we are similar to these channels, we are also very different. We bring all of this Geek Culture Greatness into one place. Because the same people who subscribe to comic book youtube channels also subscrive to toy review channels and movie review channels and horror review channels and so on. We focus on less popular comic book publishers. We bring our own unique thoughts to the table and don't do the same reviews as everyone else. Where alot of people may widely hate a movie or comic we may bring a different point of view to the table.
We hope to not only build our audience but also our team of creators. When we say that Comicgeddon TV is where All Geek Culture Collides, we mean it. Feel free to contact us to join our team and bring quality content to the youtube community or Subscribe to our channel and stay up to date on all things geek culture. We've grown alot since this little channel began with a single interview and we plan to grow even more in the years to come.

Speaking of the D.C. Comics version of the Shadow, that picture of him with his twin pistols looming over the city (at around the 1:10 mark) is actually the front cover of the first D.C. "Shadow" issue from 1973. I know that because I had that issue when I was 13 years old. It was a story called "The Doom Puzzle." I also used to have the "Batman" issue where the "Dark Knight" (as Batman is called today) meets the Shadow. It was a tale where the latter assists the former in breaking up a counterfeiting ring in a small town out in the West (Batman at first doesn't know the Shadow is helping him, but slowly begins to realize that it's so; he doesn't find out for sure until the very end). There was one rather ridiculous segment where Bruce Wayne (Batman's secret identity) meets Lamont Cranston at the hotel where he's staying. After speaking with him, Wayne/Batman gets the idea that Cranston is the mastermind behind the counterfeiting gang! This is why I say it's ridiculous, because we all know that Lamont Cranston is the Shadow! Anyway, it turns out that the real counterfeiting boss is the old man who owns and runs the hotel. A few scenes after capturing the crook, Batman finally gets to meet the Shadow face to face, which gives the "Caped Crusader" a chance to tell the "Master of other men's minds" that "you were my foremost inspiration." By the way, I'm actually reading a hardcover version of the "Hitler's Astrologer" story.

I actually liked the Alec Baldwin Shadow movie. With that being said, it would be absolutely amazing to get a rebooted live action movie that’s a more faithful adaptation of the Shadow. He’s such a cool character and because DC/WB can’t seem to make a great Batman movie that showcases the character perfectly, it would be perfect to get that quintessential Shadow film.

I loved the Shadow movie with Alex Baldwin. I love those Pulp hero movie that came out about that time The Shadow, The Phantom, The Rocketeer (don't watch the new TV series if you are fan of the movie it is girly kiddy tripe). Going back further the Doc Savage man of bronze movie is a lot of fun but I will admit a little cheesy. I would love to see these characters get another movie outing especially the Shadow or even the proposed Doc Savage movie starring the Rock Dwayne Johnson with bleach blonde hair would be a sight to see.

But I saw it years ago, when I rented a VHS tape of it from Blockbuster Video (remember those? Ahh, memories!), and my parents and I didn't think it was so bad. I heard that the Doc Savage character was the inspiration for Superman. Is that true?

If handled correctly, I believe The Shadow would have a home in today's climate as a crime detective procedural. It actually has the potential to be a good, stylized modern-day noir series ala SIN CITY if someone in Hollywood has the balls enough to do it justice. He's certainly more accessible for TV than Batman since DC and WB can't make up their minds on actually making a Batman TV series due to having that titular character bringing bank as a movie franchise.
@WastelandSeven
@WastelandSeven 4 жыл бұрын
I loved it too! They tried to blend the radio and the magazine stories together. In the short stories The Shadow is more a ninja than an invisible mystic. He uses some of the same techniques. The cloak is there to break up his outline in the shadows. And his jinking while he moved in combat was to throw the bad guys aim off.

Amen to that. Go thru as many of the radio shows you can find on KZbin or whatever, and the amount of cool REALLY becomes apparent. This is a character that still has relevant stories people would want to hear and see. Someone even did a treatment that portrays Lamont and Margo's son Harry starting to follow in his mysterious father's footsteps. THAT would be SO FRIGGIN' AWESOME if that happened, minus any SJW interference. Just think of the possibilities for stories relevant today...

Sadly, O’Neil died three years ago (June 11, 2020). Michael Wm. Kaluta’s birthday is about a week away (August 25, 1947).

DC comics does not own the publishing rights to use him. They have to borrow the rights in order to use the Shadow in comics like they did in the 80's... If you watch the entire video, it tells you who owns the rights to the Shadow... Currently Dynamite Entertainment has a licensing agreement in order to publish comics based on The Shadow.
