Thank you, Alice Glick. What an absolutely brilliant performance, even though Chloe was unable to be there! Timestamps: 00:45 'Melancholy Blues' by Marty Bloom and Walter Melrose (1927), played in A flat. 05:45 'Heebie Jeebies' by Boyd Atkins (1925), played in B flat. 10:09 'Ory's Creole Trombone' by Edward 'Kid' Ory (1921), played in F transitioning to B flat. 15:17 'When You and I Were Young, Maggie' by J.A. Butterfield and G. W. Johnson (1866), played in E flat. 18:38 'When You and I Were Young, Maggie, Blues' by Jimmy McHugh and Jack Frost (1951), played in E flat. 21:20 'Oriental Strut' by Johnny St. Cyr (1926), played in F. 26:16 'A Woman's Place is in the Groove' (12-bar blues) by Vivien Garry (1946), played in B flat. For those who enjoy a challenge: At what point does Haruka quote from 'Way Down Yonder in New Orleans'?

Ladies and Gentlemen, you've just been entertained by 5 of the most talented ladies in New Orleans. Merry Christmas to you all and Happy Birthday Haruka. I believe you could give Tommy Dorsey a run for his money on the trombone.

I’ve listened to this set so many things over the last week. It is absolutely joyous. What an amazing set of artists who clearly love the music and play with such heart and skill. We are blessed to get to watch and listen yo them.

Good to see Dizzy joining in the singing, as she used to do with Yes Ma'am often. Haruka great on trombone in Heeby Jeebies - I liked their version - and even more in Kid Ory's Creole trombone. Great to see them flourishing!

What a joy to see them back again at the venue where they first appeared shortly after Shaye brought them together back in 2016 but sadly without Chloe. Chloe has been absent at several concerts and I often wondered why the ladies never resort to a stand-in. Only once to my knowledge when Julie was absent have they done this; maybe you can’t do without a bass. (And I missed Julie on that occasion too) Perhaps there’s some inherent loyalty towards Chloe. Anyway, love you all and I can’t get enough of you.
@stewartfenton76602 жыл бұрын
Colin, I know nothing about bands and the music business. But these girls have been together a while now with only the one change that I know of (Haruka replacing Shaye). I'm guessing that they're a tight bunch personally, as well as musically, and that the loyalty you mention is important to them. As an aside, I'm wondering if Marla identifies more strongly with them now than she does with the Shotgun Band, who I haven't seen much of lately.

The front line is obvious and well spoken for. However the rhythm section is more to this than you might think. The bass playing is monumental - so is the guitar and washboard. Well done girls!
