Jesus is the King of kings and the Lord of lords, who is the One that ushered in the New Kingdom, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life that we follow into eternity. All through and by His Resurrection!!! Yes, all things will pass away BUT not our GOD and His New Kingdom will have NO END!!! I'm glad to be reminded that Apocalypse is not so much about the destruction of the world as we know it, but rather an unveiling of a new and greater reality that emerges from the Resurrection, pointing us to the greater Power at work, as Bishop Barron puts it, in religion, politics, and nature.

Call me simple. Call me not a good Catholic. Call me old, and tainted by our secular society. Call me wanting for a reason to be a Catholic. Call me a person who doesn't understand the realities of the "modern" Church. I watch Bishop Barron, admire his intellect, admire his status as a leader of our Church. I watch wanting for something that I wish he would address. I want for him to speak to me without platitudes, but with Christ's messages presented with dynamic gestures and selling me on what I miss. Confused? So am I. I am facing issues very prevalent in my life, inflation eroding the good life I had, a population that accuses me of sins of my ancestors, and a Church that sits on its laurels regarding the desecration of human life. What would I wish for from the likes of Bishop Barron? Speak to me, not your fellow priests, but to me! Your homily of today is filled with messages I would expect if I sat in a lecture presented by you. Sometimes I would like to see you speak from your heart with messages of hope for an ailing laity. Call it showmanship, but yes, I want to be sold on being a good Catholic and returning to my Church!

Dearest Bishop Robert Barron, Good Noon! Thank you for the Sunday sermon today. Maybe we can learn something about the reactions to the ongoing spread of the coronavirus pandemic throughout the world. It's starting to feel old at this point. Social distance, wear a mask, stay six feet apart, meet outside, wash your hands, and don't hug. Protect other people from getting sick, Protect yourself. These circumstances have shaken us to our very foundations. Our economy, our work, and our relationships have been disrupted. Our Church has closed and reopened looking far different than it had before. These days, I wish that the virus would be over. Our Lord Jesus Christ suffered on the cross. As a follower of Jesus amid a season of fear and anxiety, I have a unique opportunity to serve my community and love others well and sacrificially. I can love others well by following best practices and taking steps to stop the virus from spreading. In the Gospel, God has promised that nothing can separate us from the love of God and we are commanded to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind and to love others as ourselves (Matthew 22:38-40). We will live in the aftershocks for months, even years. Above all, the coronavirus pandemic or anything in our times, Jesus’ death and resurrection are the beginning of the end times. The covid- 19 pandemic rocked me to the core, and will likely change my daily life forever. Bishop, I will continue to pray for you that the holy angel will help you guide to see the empty tomb and shake it with fear and joy. In the name of our risen Lord Jesus. Please pray for the Dregers family. P.S. When you see our Bishop Thomas Daly this coming week, please tell him don't stay far away. St. Dominic, pray for us. St Therese, pray for us. St. John the cross, pray for us St. Pope John Paul, pray for us. Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us. Sincerely yours, Cecilia Dreger and family(the solid three Men🐏 ). Wilbur Sacred Heart Parishioner. (🐑 Bishop Thomas Daly and Father Rory Pitstick).

Please pray for me brothers and sisters. I have been away from the Catholic Church for over seven years and during that time I did nothing for anyone else but myself. I led a very selfish and sinful and worldly life and was addicted to mortal sin of the flesh(daily) and never left the house really. I realize now I am a recidivist sinner with a weak faith. Back in High School I made Confessions without any firm purpose of amendment. And did not work to avoid the occasion of sin. I am really afraid now. Please offer up prayers asking God to grant me repentance and Mercy and I would humbly ask that you offer up penances and sufferings for me to help me make reparation for my sins. Please pray Rosaries for me! I am truly scared. I also know that St Bernard said that many souls go to hell because of poor examen and no contrition. Please pray to God for my repentance! Thank you, You brother in Christ, Casey McKee

I looked at the new documentary about the shroud of Turin ( Is this the image of Jesus). Although I know that the carbon dating doesn't match up, the body they produced sticks in my mind. The bent forward top half and the raised knees. The hundreds of wounds, the black eye and thorns in the head. I thought how painful it must have been for Jesus. The hours of migraine headache that he must have had from the heat, dehydration and thorns. His poor mother looking on. This on top of all his other wounds and the strain on his limbs and his aching shoulders. He put up with all this to give us a simple message about loving God and our neighbour. He never hurt anyone. Whoever he was, he certainly suffered. He deserves to be remembered and his message of a loving God. It was so long ago and so much has got lost and changed in translation along the way. It's hard to know what to believe and what is true anymore. We must in part believe our gut. We do know that Jesus existed and that he suffered greatly, much like the guy in the Shroud of Turin. The humility of the body of the person in the shroud is very striking, it made me wonder why we try to logic it all out. Who in their right mind would suffer that torture unless he did it to show the depths of his love and understanding of the human condition. We can never say that Jesus doesn't know our suffering after that. My gut says give Jesus the benefit of the doubt and at the great apocalypse what have I to lose or regret.
@silverforest46822 жыл бұрын
The carbon dating was done on cloth used to repair the shroud after it was burnt. If they did it again, I believe we would see it is truly 2000 years old.

@UC4oYHhvIr3CTx2oH4tDMKCQ I tried this digit combo above. Just came to the youtube links of my subscriptions, including this one of Bishop Barron's Sunday sermons, the WORD on FIRE podcasts, & other special homilies/talks the Bishop has given as an invited guest. Also, I LIKE the Advent booklet, "The Word Became Flesh" & have ordered copies for the members of my BIBLE study group in my parish. Other books I've ordered too, for various family or friends, who teach in various places. My interest a lot, is learning Biblical Hebrew & the deep times of Israel & times of Jesus & very early church history. You provide some wonderful insights. I remember & LOVED the song, "Dust in the Wind"! Also, I am inspired by Brandon Vogt, & have purchased a couple of his books. My place where you & I separate in thinking, is @ the RC Church as the complete source & summit. I see too many truely devoted Christians in other churches, to think they are all outsiders of God's Kingdom. I am still considering, but have learned much from the Israel BIBLE Center, from Israel, where I can listen to scholars, some Jewish, Messianic Jewish, Gentile of different persuations, & search their extensive library, & study ancient texts. May your programs continue to inspire a wide audience, especially of the younger generations. Thank you for inviting me to comment, & I thank any on the Word on Fire staff who has or takes time to read this!

My friends, family, and casual acquaintance can all now tell you that apocalypses is from Greek apocalypsos and means unveiling since I found Bishop Barron a few years ago.! I’m in RCIA in no small part because of his concise, coherent, intelligent, and reverent explanations of Catholic history, doctrine, and practice. On at least one other video of his you can spot me talking sass in the comments, thinking he wouldn’t notice, and Bishop Barron patiently but firmly correcting me. I respected him all the more because he stood his ground and took the time to engage an ignorant soul like me. I wasn’t sure whether to be embarrassed or go around bragging, so I decided to do both, as you can see. I still don’t understand how I was wrong, but decided sometimes admitting someone else is wiser than you is a good place to start. Do as the wiser person thinks instead of how you think and save yourself learning the hard way. I’m still hoping he does a deep dive on why 2nd Vatican council was a wise thing to do though. If only because I see others interested in converting being pursued aggressively by the anti faction and being diverted to congregations that I think are not properly ordained. From my limited understanding if they are not in proper communion with the orthodox or Catholic Church they have no access to the Holy Spirit, so I pray we all make informed decisions instead of fearful ones.
