The Shamen should be way more popular as they work hard to appeal to all people of all races and technology which we all have...

Saw two Shamen Synergy shows at Edinburgh Carlton Studios, one 89 the other 90 both amazing but the first one blew our minds, never saw it coming, what a gig, the second one was still great but you knew kinda what you were in for, still amazing though they did Progen and a Wil Sinnott sung version of Purple Haze , hilarious in our Scottish accent, anyway, great f#ckin` days, great memories

Yes good days, saw them in 89 in London at the TC2 - what an experience, saw them twice after and as fame struck they didn't have it for me anymore.

Saw them at their infamous Glastonbury gig in 1992 I think they were on just before the Orb, again they were more ravey (Mr C had joined them by then) it was an excellent gig and we were all smashed to fuck (which made it all the more fun)... Brilliant vibe in the crowd everyone was in to it.

everyone knows the commercial side of the Shamen but from 1986 up to 1990 including this album and gorbachev trust was brilliant albums :)

For an indie band to come out with a beautiful sophisticated rave track like this was very exciting in 89. Still sounds superb.

I knew the co-founder of warp records Rob Mitchell prior to the label being set up. He told me he had see the shaman at the leadmill and they’d blown him away. They probably don’t get the recognition they deserve as early proponents of uk electronic dance

Seen them at The Marcus Garvey Centre I was out of my head on acid, the floor was moving with everyone raving I was fantastic Had to drive home in my XR3 couldn't make out the colour of the traffic lights in Nottingham

I saw them when they were doing the Synergy tour in 1989 which went on for two years. This was before Will Sin sadly died - it was amazing. This was the first time myself and loads of other people had been exposed to a full on acid house / rave experience and it turned many more 'rock' type people into the rave scene - it certainly opened my eyes to what a night out could be 😀😀

@@ianmooney5566 I'd rather blame Derek Birkett as he was the one who sold them a record deal at OLI that they go in a slightly poppier direction and then could do an experimental stuff but when they get some "hits" he kept forcing them into doing some pop songs hence Ebeneezer Goode and then the mess that is Axis Mutatis where the experimental material is far out and the tacked on pop tracks feel like a tacked on hack job. As a public face though, I'll admit Mr. C is a fall guy for all of this.
