Spot on Steve, good to see 5043 again and what a sight and sound . Looking very overgrown at Bessie Ghyll now sadly especially after I cleared a big chunk off the overgrowth a while back.

Superb we rarely get GWR locos in the West Country these days, since Didcot got taken over by bean counters! Mostly good old LMS and Southern engines around Wiltshire

To think when I first saw 5043 it was no more than a boiler sat on a set of frames at Tyesley. It was for spare parts apparently to keep Clun and Defiant going. Thornbury Castle was the best and most complete of the 3 non runners.....so all these years later, what happened??? Marvelous engine.
