It feels very tense, somehow making Mr. Brightside more stressed out. The chords and vocals combine in the chorus to put you on edge. And I think the addition of the original chorus near the end is a great touch.

Updated comment: for people trying to figure out why "this shouldn't work but it does" and why it sounds dissonant yet not in a horrible way, these songs are in parallel keys. Mr. Brightside is in C# major and The Sharpest Lives is in C# minor. They share C#, D#, F#, and G#, and just on a quick review of the verse, the instrumental of The Sharpest Lives relies predominantly on a C#-A-F#-G# progression. In other words, most of the notes overlap between the major and minor. The parts where you're likely noticing dissonance is in the parts where the Mr. Brightside vocals use one of the notes in the scale that isn't shared by The Sharpest Lives. The more you know!
