Shaun, thanks! I'm from Russia. I'm not a professional, but I've learned to sharpen the incisors without specialized, expensive equipment. They told me that my sharpening will not allow me to engrave, and I, in the precedent dissuading me, have already made some normal gifts to friends. I'm nasty and do not listen to anyone. )))) Thank you for showing various economical ways. I learned to sharpen not according to your videos and the more pleasant it is to see that I'm not the only one. ))) I recently learned that you are a famous master. A month and a half ago, he unsubscribed from the canal, then it seemed that you were simply spoiling the coins. At that time, you made videos that drove me to sleep. )) but then realized that you are a genius and are not afraid to share any experiments with people. It's nice to see that with your knowledge and capabilities, you do not disdain simple ways of performing the processes. I've been watching your videos for about three months now. You are a great master.

Yes...I think I see how you obtained the proper angles. You used the three different ‘positioning foils’ (soda cans?) to hold the graver axis in the proper relationship to the top of the vice for filing. The bottom ‘V’ angle was obtained using the punch marks around the shaft of the graver while aligned with a center line. BTW- Number the holding foils 1, 2 and 3 with a marker for easier identification and sequence of use. Or, assign them a descriptive name. Nice job!

The angles don't need to be perfect, just close. You find what lasts the longest and works best for you through experience. I just use the side of a die grinding stone and eyeball them, works fine!

Yes you got it. I call it 'Let your graver be your guide. You can resharpen any graver with no guide like this. Just orient the heel to flush with the top of the vice and polish is with a sheet of glass with diamond paste.

How often do graver tips break? Can you resharpen them multiple times? If so, how many times? Thank you and great work!

On steel they break often,soft metals not so much,you keep sharpening until they get to short,like a pencil :)

This video answered my question about an onglete, besides diamond paste, or pidary discs... do you ever polish your gravers?
@express3756 жыл бұрын
Yes with a lanksy shaphire stone,but not always. Look for the recent masterengraverTV YT episode.The best graver tutuorial I've seen.

I usually use round gravers for scrollwork. I found they leave the cleanest cuts when turning in a very small radius. Do you guys have any different experience? With a graver of this shape I personally can't make clean round cuts

Ah now you can make your own Mosahvili guide,if you know the angles. You really dont need any guide to resharpen any graver,just orient the heel flush with the top of the vice and polish with glass with diamond paste.
