I enjoyed the double spinning back kick to the rim.

He should put the tire under the car in case the car falls of the jack..he could loose his legs

Thank you so much for the help Mark! My rear pads lasted 130k! That tool from AutoZone works great, as long as it's not broken of course. Another thing that helped a lot was disconnecting the parking brake cable so it was easier to get to the caliper bolts.

Hey Troy, I'm glad it was useful to you!

Informative video but i hope you are not depending on the jack to hold the car up you should have something under the car if a seal fails in the jack there goes your legs

you are an excellent mechanic. Just don't minimize your personal safety: i.e. jack stand.

Don’t quit your day job. Nice safety sandles. Nice disc turning.

Mine had two Allen key bolts that needed to be pulled out of the caliper, but that tool to rewind the piston would not lineup (I tried 2 different styles and neither would fit the two holes) , and since I only have 2 hands (boy 3 would be nice) I moved the caliper up and screwed in the mounting bolts and then just used a pair of needle nose pliers to screw the piston in. The first side took about 4 hours because the little square tool did not fit and the next tool was again too big. One thing with the needle nose give it a small turn out first then wind it in

Mine is a 2012 SEL hatchback. Did you have a different year or package? Maybe a sport package? Thanks for the additional information.

@@markgray3951 yours is the same. When you pointed to the bolt that needs to come off, that’s the bolt holding the whole calliper to the knuckle. The 2 Allen bolts are behind the black plastic plugs that are right above the bolt you pointed to. That removes the outer part of the calliper.

Hello, I have a small question ! I hope you can answer it please. Recently i have installed new break pads in my car both front and back. After installing the breakpads my car breaks are making squelling sound . Same sound like when break pads reach to wear limit and need to replace. Since I have new break pads what should i do? And if i put my car on jack !!! How free wheel should rotate with the hand? How hot disc become usually ? Thank you in advance.
@markgray39513 жыл бұрын
I wish I could say what it was that is making the sound but I really have no way of knowing what is causing it. Wheel rotation would depend on a few things. If the parking brake is on or if the transmission is in Park should stop the wheel from turning. If the wheel is not a drive wheel and the parking brake is not on, then the wheel should move freely by hand.

@@markgray3951 thank you appericated your reply. I tried to spin the front wheel freely but it look little jam. Hopefully i will make it spin and rotate freely. Thank you for advice

Syed this sounds like one or more of the pads is on backwards.

Do yourself a favour my friend and never rely on just the jack as your playing with fire

Is the replacement tool needed for the front brakes as well. Trying to decide if I'd rather just go to the shop
@markgray39514 жыл бұрын
The special tool was not needed for the front brakes. I did those with just a C-clamp.

@paulburden31723 жыл бұрын
Nope just a plain old g-clamp will do.

You know it’s a whole lot easier to get new pads in when you separate the caliper from the bracket like you’re supposed to do…..not pry and pound on your new pad surface struggling to get them in place. Crazy
@bobbyzimmerman9987 Жыл бұрын
Probably still noisy cuz the rotors are warped and rusty, didn’t lube slide pins or even remove/clean them, so those will rust/freeze up and smoke the new pads probably soon. Anyone watching this to change your brakes, go find another video lol
@carlitothatonemotorcyclegu1113 жыл бұрын
Did he not lube the slide pins???
@markgray39513 жыл бұрын
I did not lube the slide pins.

I didn't see him apply some copper grease to the backs of the pads. And I defo wouldn't be doing the job in flip flops 🙄
@davidhernandezescobar11893 жыл бұрын
what is the number of the socket used to remove the bolts in the caliper bracket? 13 mm? Thanks!
@markgray39513 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. I should have mentioned that in the video because I can't remember what socket I used. I just started trying sockets until I found the one that fit. Thanks.
@troyhubbard503 жыл бұрын
Yes I used a 13mm wrench
@stugwill3 ай бұрын
Thanks but I don’t think I will do it that way.
@REVNUMANEWBERN4 жыл бұрын
It appeared the special tool screwed the piston in easy, do you think the same thing could be done using the points of needle nose pliers??
@markgray39514 жыл бұрын
I tried that and a lot of things and nothing else worked
@REVNUMANEWBERN4 жыл бұрын
LOL , wheel falling on flip flop feet didn't feel to good did it?? NOT wise putting the jack where you did, can distort that sheet metal that ties the rear suspension together
@REVNUMANEWBERN4 жыл бұрын
A DEAR friend of mine DIED doing STUPID stuff like you did here, he ONLY had the vehicle on a jack, he was struggling to break a bolt loose when the vehicle fell off the jack, he was KILLED INSTANTLY !

Take off the caliper, not the bracket and the pads go in easier. Never use a jack to hold the car up. Jack stands exist for a reason. Use them. The lack of comment sense and safety in this video is appalling.
