Rudolph Valentino performed at Tajine Alami, then known as Hiawatha Gardens in Manitou Springs. I was the last belly dancer to performer there before they closed…it was an honor to dance in such a historic place. Thank you for posting this film; it is so nostalgic and special to me.

He was Italian and wore gold bracelets, liked to dress well, was a dancer and they could not understand his culture. He was tried once for bigamy. I don't think a closeted gay would choose a wife fought with him in public. He would have preferred someone to keep a low profile with.

The clarity of the film is remarkable and one of the better films of the period the story moves quickly and the place cards of dialogue are not overly florid yet retain the charm of a different time when desire and emotion were deftly hidden in the allusions of speech leaving the end open so glad I watched this one and yes he was quite lovely to gaze upon he was the original European beauty

So this is from 100 years ago.... I'm so old i can remember the late 1950s, when the Civil War was not yet 100 years ago. One of my paternal great-grandfathers fought on the Union side. My maternal grandfather was born in 1865, the year it ended. At that time, there was a very successful, handsome, charismatic idol of the stage, actor John Wilkes Booth.

Watched this iconic film several times before. Agnes Ayres was the envy of every woman in 1922...But her career faltered a few years after this and her demise is rather sad to read about. Bad career moves, bad marriage - divorce, poor investments, and to top it off, weight gain ! Thank you, thank you ! Sometime in the 1980’s or 1990’s I saw this on Turner Classic Movies and loved Rudolph Valentino!! At that time I even calculated that Valentino, if he were still alive, would be 95 years old or so-but I would have been game to meet him!

Was rewatching this (completely) after 3 years. I love this movie, but the racism can be cringy sometimes. Nevertheless still a lovely movie! Also the depiction of Arabs here is not only somewhat accurate, but also kinda generous ^^

@@wildflowerred6323 Brando wasnt more popular than Dean, Marlon Brando was more appreciated in his old age than in his youth, In the 80s I am not very sure about Tom Cruise, Cruise in the 80s had not yet had an operation and it was totally different. the 90s would be between pitt deep and dicaprio, and the 2000s I think actors like jensen ackles, heath ledger or will smith. i think in the 80s harrison ford and patrick swayze were naturally more attractive than cruise
