I’m 66 & in 2 weeks time I’ll be the same age my mother was when she died, just before she was 67. Her mother however lived to 103 & her grandmother to 96 or 97. My paternal grandmother almost made 102 & her son, my father, is 93 today (living with a French woman 30 years his junior in a fisherman’s cottage on an island off the coast of Brittany ;) ❤

This is based on one of the many lovely novels by the late Rosamund Pilcher. You should also read the sequel "September". It's about Noel Keeling. Learning there's more to life than money and greed.... Would also like to mention the book based on Rosamund Pilcher's own life ; "Coming Home". (Time frame WW II). A must read !!!

I read this book when I was around 25. I even remember where and when. I just fell madly involve with this well written story. I then had to get my own copy and insisted my husband find it and 'just read it' because it resonated ...and he just loved it. We connected so much with this wonderful book which bridges the gap between the generations. Its one of those wonderful books like a good tune, a good sunset or a fine port or what ever wonderful thing takes your fancy and is so satisfying that words can't measure. It is written so beautifully and is so vivid, transcending you here and there and eventually takes you to a place of family, of love. Now I'm 52 and it's still on my shelf. And of course I shall read it again. No film could ever take the place of a well written book such as this. In fact no film can ever take the place of a book.

The Shell Seekers is my favourite book. I practically know it by heart. When I first saw this film, years ago, I was disappointed, since it wasn't exactly true to the novel. Now, upon watching it again, I can appreciate its stand-alone value. What a treasure Rosamund Pilcher was. Thank you for sharing this film.

👍👌👏 Oh WOW, what a simply fantastic movie. Great cast too. Not quite the happy end I hoped for. The wedding was great but she together with Richard again would have been the icing on the cake. At least for me. 2) I really don't know why but I never liked Angela Lansbury. Neither young, nor middle aged nor old. Same goes for Bette Davis. Maybe it's about their eyes? I simply don't know why. what a BEAUTIFUL house surroundings of Olivia's house wish I could stay in one like this !!some children are so greedy not thankful for what their parents had done for them !old parents lose their right to live their own lives at times ...what suits children .......how her own son, daughter are after her money !! I feel so sad seeing this greed for money ,demanding what is not theirs by right !how heartless to say :where is the body " as if waiting for a good news !! Probably not many realize that Angela stood 1.73 m in height. In here you can notice her height. The cameraa are mostly close up and not supported which showed how tall she was. Also, the top of her head almost touching the door edge! 😊 She was tall, yes. And mighty beautiful in her youth. She’s had a character on and off screen. RIP, Angela. 💐🍃

I'm reading the Shell Seekers for the 4th time and I love it. However I will never see the film. Angela Lansbury is not Penelope and I wish she hadn't bought the film so she could play her. When I've read the books I always saw Jessica Tandy as Penelope. Someone else could be her I suppose but NOT Angela Lansbury.

It was difficult to believe that "DOLLY" was the mother-in-law of "PENELOPE" because they look close to the same year. I found that actresses Angela Lansbury and Irene Worth were only 9 years apart in age. Seems to me that Hollywood could have selected another actress that was, and looked, older than Lansbury.
