@@savagex466-qt1io a couple things. Diesel cap had no seal between it and the filler neck. Neck is located in the rear which was lower in the water due to weight of occupants. Rich explains it in the last 2 minutes of the video

This is what I was thinking too. As fuel is pumped out, air gets sucked into the tank to replace it. If it's underwater, it will actually suck water into the tank that way.

If the tank is warm from the motor when entering the water it will suck it in as it first cools. On 4WD's this is a big problem not only with fuel tanks but axles and trans as well. To solve this add breather lines that mount up high with S traps as well, 1/4 inch line will do for most vehicles.

All Diesel vehicles have a water separator because any condensation in the fuel tank will end up at the engine fuel filter. It's basically impossible to prevent water entering the fuel system.

Easy fix! You get a new, or adapt the filler cap, but also put a gas-release valve up high, you don't want a vacuum fuel tank! For the ingress of water n the rear, instal 12V bilge pumps with float valves and high-mounted outports, all available off the shelf, and easy to fit using standard fittings. Do it! The Sherp needs to be better than what you can buy, you know that! Also, it was great to see that Steven is the 'magic flute' player, such talent is wasted on your show, he needs to do insrumental compilations of all pop songs. Pure class!

Here’s a tip. We used to get condensation water in our tractor all the time and would have to drain it out of the water separator. An old man told me to just put a little rubbing alcohol in the tank and that will allow the diesel fuel to absorb the water and you can burn it. Never had issues again.

Uncle Rich, don't forget that the filer cap has a valve in it that allows air to get sucked into the tank while the diesel is being used. So if you plug that filer cap the engine will die of fuel starvation.
