Heavenly pacts are formed at birth without the bearers consent and can be see as birth defects with a contrasting exponential boost in a specific field (toji was born bereft of any cursed energy at all but was given superhuman physicality, mechamaru is essentially the exact opposite he was born with a body weak as glass but was given an extreme range for his cursed technique both pacts pretty much ruined their lives tho despite the massive boost it gave them they were both ostracized from society)
