Vic saying he was going to visit Shane's kids is what brought him over the line. If Vic didn't say that then maybe Shane wouldn't have killed his family

Family Annihilators are convinced their families are better off dead than living without them. Once Shane knew he had no out he was probably going to do it regardless, although I'd imagine what Vic said made it easier for Shane to lie to himself about needing to do it

Another small but insidious touch was Vic saying that both he and Ronnie had deals so that Shane wouldn’t think to try and alert Ronnie that Vic had sold him out.

Yeah but to be fair taking the ICE deal eventually blew up in Vic's face not only has his family left and turned against him but so has the entire precinct he used to work for. Plus he ended up betraying Ronnie the last most loyal member of his team and was powerless to warn him when he got arrested his ICE position is basically just a desk job and his employer who he had been previously manipulating is determined to make his life hell just so he will violate the terms of his agreement. And even when he completes his job for three years he's now persona non grata at every law enforcement place in America. So compared to that Shane killing his family and then himself is more of a happy ending than Vic will ever have or deserve.

2:45 This is probably the coldest cruelest thing Vic ever said to someone. That he's basically telling Shane he's gonna be the new "father" to his kids and tell those kids the "good old stories" about their real parents, the "bad side" of their real parents. Making sure Shane's kids will resent both him and Mara. So Vic plans to do these things just out of spite....Dang. I know the reasons why he wants to punish shane like this but still. Ice cold, man.....

Damn you can absolutely feel Shane's desperation here. This is as good as the Walt/Skyler phone call.
@kdizzle90110 ай бұрын
I think it’s better more cleverly written with the passive aggressive quips Vic calling Mara Annie Oakley and saying he’ll send him a postcard from Space Mountain and it’s the final time they talk…….then Shane’s note says it all…….Walt a little to easily snuck into Skylar’s new apartment while dying of cancer……….Walt and Skylar got a proper goodbye
@errwhattheflip7 ай бұрын
I'd argue that Walt and Skyler's phone call is better because of its emotional complexity. It brings out what we'd expect to be years of frustration from Walter but ultimately is just one of the few selfless moments from Walt. I think it's an incredibly well structured scene. But yes both are fantastic scenes@@kdizzle901

I don't think this call was the tipping point. Shane was as stable as a three legged chair at this point, tripped out on rdugs and he was already weighing up taking his own life. He's cotemplated as early as finding out Lem didn't betray the team and he killed him for no reason. OF course Vic pissed on this fire but I don't think Shane offed himself and his family just because of VIc's call.

I'm sure at that point working on a goat farm in Mexico sounded nice.
