The exterior is the Timberline Lodge up on Mt. Hood. Gorgeous place!

We definitely wanna go see it. Only a few hrs from us!

@@haveyouseen_yt The interiors were shot at Elstree studios in England. The interiors were all on a set, and the non-establishing exteriors were on the lot of the same studio.

Classic movie. One of my personal favorite horrors. I definitely get what Carlos is saying when he says he’s seen this movie through pop culture before actually seeing it. Movies like this seem almost known universally.

Absolutely. I think it’s also that the greatest movies get quoted and parodied so much in movies that follow? Younger generation hear the lines but don’t know where they are actually from sometimes.

It's true! Haha thanks a lot to Tiny Toons and Simpsons, etc lol

Cuckoo's Nest is not Kubrick; stars Nicholson though.

Milos Forman! Dang. You’re right. 😊

All of the interior and exterior shots were shot in Elstree Studios, England with a couple of exceptions - the aerial and distant shots of the hotel and the helicopter shot of the car for the intro (both in Oregon). They recreated an enormous replica of the front of the hotel in an open space (car park?) at Elstree. Kubrick lived a few miles up the road. In fact all of his films from Lolita until his death were made in England.

You mentioned Christopher LLoyd. He was with Nicholson in 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest' in 1975, along with Danny DeVito.

Someone else pointed out to me that the color red, which Kubrick loves and uses, obviously, is in many scenes only in the form of alarms, warning signs, Exit signs, etc. If you pay attention to the scenes when this is prominent, it's very interesting.

OOoooooooo I love when directors have those subtle choices.

The footage in this film was not from the 1980's. Yes, the film came out in the 1980. But this Classic Psychological Horror was filmed in 1979. One more thing, Milos Foreman Directed "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest", not Stanely Kubrick.

kubrick used the Apollo 11 shirt because that was the moon landing mission he was theorized of staging. that's why while danny is wearing it he enters room 237.. because the moon is 237,000 miles from earth.

dude.. Shaggy + The Shining = either The Shagging or Shiney. that is my idea for the parody name and artist.. The Shagging by Shiney

Skip “Eyes Wide Shut,” it’s not a must-see.

Don't use Doctor Sleep as a means to explain Kubrick's The Shining. King hated and disowned Kubrick's The Shining. They are different universes. Doctor Sleep appeals to NPC needs for exposition while Kubrick is all about ambiguity. Don't be an NPC - embrace the ambiguity.

You’ve reinforced that I need to read the book to see for myself why King feels the way he does. Good news is I picked it up from the book store this week!
