Sa’d ibn Mu’adh radhiyallahu anhu
(For Whom the Throne of Allah Shook)
He was a born leader who was loved and revered by the people of Madina. His tribe of Banu Aus accepted Islam after he threatened to break ties with them.
He was known for his sagacity and uprightness but was physically also dominating in stature. When he sat on his mount, his feet touched the ground and no armor could fit his figure.
When the blessed Prophet ﷺ consulted with the Sahaba radhiyallahu anhum about what to do with the captives who were captured in the battle of Badr, only two Sahaba spoke the will of Allah, Sa’d ibn Mu’adh and Umar ibn Khattab radhiyallahu anhuma.
When he served his judgment against the Jewish tribe of Banu Quraiza, which took every opportunity to conspire against the blessed Prophet ﷺ and breached the treaty in the battle of the Trench, the blessed Prophet ﷺ said, “You served the decree of the Lord.”
His status:
1. “The throne of the Creator shook upon his death.”
2. What the hypocrites said when his coffin was lifted and the blessed Prophet ﷺ’s response…
3. “The handkerchief of Sa’d is better than this.”
The blessed Prophet had a tent pitched for him by the masjid after he was fatally injured in the battle of the Trench.
He was martyred in the battle of the Trench in 5 Hijri.
