This video moves me a lot. As much as the fact, that if I look at the date of release of How I Met Your Mother season 8 final, where Simple Song appeared, this is dated to 14.5.2013. It's probable that I listen to The Shins already 11 years. They mean childhood, they mean calmness, they mean myself riding in a forest and listening to them. They mean a lot to me.

This reminds me of Death Cab for Cutie's music video for Soul Meets Body which came out the next year. They're both great examples of those drifting and sometimes ethereal years of 2004 and 2005. What times they were.

Undoubtedly the most brilliantly beautiful song to emerge on the scene, in the not too distant past. An instant classic, in the mode and manner of Simon and Garfunkel's works. I'll never tire listening to this song!

You’ve had my heart since you first began. Your songs have been danced to when I was pregnant. While the family travelled Australia in 2010 on those 18 hour days you were played on hot dusty roads. Your CD’s are played in my bedroom nowadays, as it is the only CD player in the house , but you have been streamed and I also listen with my fancy ear phones on. I grow older, two of my children are grown up but I still adore your music. All of it the sound, the poetry in the lyrics and the yearning o the yearning, I feel. Thank you for being my companion and not even knowing me.

This made me tear up a bit. Thank you for sharing this. It's amazing how this song pulls me into its orbit- one moment I'm 12 and playing this song for my grandfather. Nights spent drawing up ideas, futures beyond anything I could ever possibly think of. Next thing I'm 15 blasting it through speakers to forget the sound of his funeral procession. There are better men and women than me who've got it penned down, this sensation of not-quite-joy and not-quite-sadness. But when my mind draws blank and my tongue feels like a stone at the bottom of my windpipe, listening to Mercer croon on about mid-life ennui, eyesores, Australia and all the places I've never been to but still feel oddly familiar is like a balm to the soul. Spliced between these petite eternities. Something I can look back fondly on and remember that I was a dreamer, too.

Verse 1] Gold teeth and a curse for this town Were all in my mouth Only I don't know how they got out, dear Turn me back into the pet I was when we met I was happier then with no mindset Angelo Mota 'all good' (Live Performance) | Genius Open Mic Angelo Mota 'all good' (Live... [Chorus] And if you took to me like A gull takes to the wind Well, I'd've jumped from my trees And I'd've danced like the king of the eyesores And the rest of our lives would've fared well [Verse 2] New slang when you notice the stripes The dirt in your fries Hope it's right when you die Old and bony Dawn breaks like a bull through the hall Never should have called But my head's to the wall and I'm lonely [Chorus] And if you took to me like A gull takes to the wind Well, I'd've jumped from my trees And I'd've danced like the king of the eyesores And the rest of our lives would've fared well [Guitar Solo] [Verse 3] Godspeed all the bakers at dawn May they all cut their thumbs And bleed into their buns 'til they melt away [Verse 4] I'm looking in on the good life I might be doomed never to find Without a trust, a flaming field Am I too dumb to refine? [Chorus] And if you took to me like Well, I'd've danced like the queen of the eyesores And the rest of our lives would've fared well [Guitar Solo]
