I watched a review for this (Dice Tower) awhile ago and thought it looked dry and boring. This episode changed my mind and convinced me to buy it. Ian, I think you're doing a great job but I'd like to offer a little advice. I play and teach a lot of board games, and something I have to deal with when teaching is giving my players too much information on topics I'm not ready to discuss yet. You see that happen in this video when Jack is confused about cards fading and pips when Ian is still in the middle of explaining the logic deduction aspect of the game. In my experience, players try to figure out where a game is going by jumping ahead, which causes confusion. Especially when people end up on their own little tangential distractions. When I teach games I usually write out a simple outline to help me teach aspects in a specific order. I also will point out elements they are likely to see and ask questions about, but tell them I'll come back to that element in a minute; in the case of this game, I would do that with the pips and circle around to fading/moon/pips only after finishing the discussion on logic and clue giving. Consider checking out the YT channel Watch It Played, where the host can make complex games much more easy to understand. I have also had people watch that channel with me before jumping into rules discussion, to get them primed. I hope this doesn't come across as condescending or negative. I love this show and I think everyone involved is doing a fantastic job. I just hope my experience can make your job a little easier. Thanks for everything you guys do. L&R

Jason dismissed the "higher" card so quickly in the first round that he didn't notice that it was the sole reason Ian had to have had a duplicate number pull

It would be cool if this show was always the DnD crew since that is the slot it’s replacing. I miss the dynamic

So looking at the rules on the website, they mention drawing new fate numbers before talking about "The Hours" card, so technically it seems you are correct in that you can play either fate. The only thing that's confusing is that if you play the fate that was originally being guessed at, it essentially resets the "prediction numbers." The curveball is that the rule cards are always changing as they fade so you can't make the same assumptions as previously. For example, at 31:29 Jack plays incorrectly (but that's because he didn't realize he could play the "7"). He should have played that on "Higher," leaving him with a 5, but as you can see the 3,4, and 5 are turned over because in the previous round he had to play a 5 on the "3-4-5" rule card. Maybe I'm ignoring something, but that's confusing as hell. You'd have to mention to the other players "Hey I'm playing the fate you guys were initially guessing at so you're predicting a new number in relation to this one."

No, you don't mention it, the other people have to figure out that you changed which fate they're guessing for. The whole point of the game is you're not meant to have perfect information. If you told people there wouldn't be much of a game left.

Devin Langille sure, but didn’t you hear the disclaimer within the first minute?

Idk why when I see none-Allies in EZA show my mind goes (Filler Arc)-not a complete slight, just not part of the main quest. But, gives more screen time to less developed characters (people I don’t watch usually)

I watch easy allies because of the allies, not because of guests... sorry but i always skip videos that feature more guests then allies

You're gonna be skipping the next one and probably the one after that too then since bloodworth didn't make it and they said they shot multiple episodes in one go.

Yeah, I'm definitely not a numbers person, I enjoyed the previous game infinitely more, interesting concept though.

The part where the rules were explained was completely unentertaining. I think this could be alleviated via the players learning the rules off camera, then a polished/succinct rules explanation video being filmed and placed at the beginning. It would require more production time/effort, but as I always say, think of the benefits!

At least the game is pretty... because all I kept saying was "What the f---?!" None of this made sense to me. I mean, it sounded like it did at first... seemed pretty basic and something fun for kids... quickly turned into some shit that needs a quantum computer.

This game is awful. It really looks like they just fancily dressed up a simple logic game into something to sell units. It's easier to sell a game called "Shipwreck Arcana" (which btw seems to barely do with anything in the game) then it is to sell "Guess my number between 1 and 6". We lost TTE for this?
