Great reaction. Dan is phenomenal. He can (and does) sing everything from opera to heavy metal (with metal being his preferred genre). Vocally, he's classically trained, which I'm sure you can believe after this beautiful rendition of Amazing Grace. Head on down the Dan Vasc rabbit hole. You won't be disappointed!

Agree with you completely. Dan is an amazingly skilled singer who can sing any genre of music. You must check out his Witcher covers, as well as, I'll Make a Man Out of You (Disney Mulan), both of his Christmas Carols are fantastic. They are Angels We Have Heard on High and Adeste Fideles (O Come All Ye Faithful). All sung in different languages. He puts a Metal spin on all of them. Loved your reaction and anxious to hear more of Dan's music.

The harmonica was given to him when he was 6 or 7 by his father, who passed away about a week before he recorded this song. I suspect he dedicated it to his father. Listen to his opera covers; he'll give Pavorati a run for his money.

@teresamerkel71619 ай бұрын
I believe he sung this the way this song has craved to be sung for centuries. I also suspect he sang this as a prayer. He never looks directly at the camera (maybe 15 degrees to one side is as close as he comes.) As he gets deeper into the song he closes his eyes. He has stated he is a Christian and put this out for Easter. Some suggestions in the comments about the Christmas songs he has out (and one we are anxiously anticipating) are timely for consideration. This man is a musical genius; he knows how to be gentle and soft and how to hit you smack in the face and chest with an overload of pitch perfect sound. He definitely takes the listener on a journey in every song. He doesn't just perform the notes; he lives the meaning of every song he sings. "...a harmonica the size of a football." Lol I anticipate more reactions from you to this powerful singer.

Written around 250 years ago, by a British poet John Newton.. he had dealings with the slave trade, was a ships captain... He found God gave all of that up turned his life around becoming a cleric in the church and was actually instrumental in the English Cause to Abolish slavery. Dan sings this as I think Newton meant it to be read, not sad, but full of praise and passion. It is more about re-birth than death, seeing good from evil and giving thanks for that. Yes I'm as old as dirt, full of useless information.. but I will say I adore all of Dan's covers, I'm still a metal head and Dan just makes every thing he sings his own... Great reaction .. welcome to the Vasc Nation💯💥

The "note" was held for 23 seconds. The story of this song.... we've been told that thus song is in homage to his father who gave that harmonica to Dan when he was eight years old. Dan's father died just a few months before he came out with Amazing Grace. You can see by the seriousness of the expressions on his face and the emotions in his voice that this is a special song for his father. His father was half Italian, and he used to play opera on the radio for his son. This is where Dan learned to love opera and has a number of operatic covers in his repertoire. Dan can literally sing any genre, but I am curious to know if he has ever sung Country & Western?

I think your review is very good, however showing the climax of the song and review before you even start at the beginning ruins it for me. It's like telling the punchline of a joke before you tell the joke. Totally ruins the joke. I've seen other reactors do the same thing. You seem like a great reactor otherwise, but I lost interest in watching because of the beginning. Just a little advice, you can take it or leave it. I certainly don't mean to be critical.
