Great video. There is something else about this that sets the Springboks apart. The team has many versatile players. The likes of Kwagga, Manie, PSDT and don’t ever forget Cheslin can all play in different positions. This is what makes the risk tenable.

To be fair... the first of the games against the Lions was Our Boys first game in 20 months because NZ and Aus did their best to disrupt SA's RWC preparations... the officiating was absolutely poor too resulting in the now famous (or infamous) Rassie video....

The essence of the bomb squad is that the team is 23 players not 15 plus "reserves". It gives the bench dignity and respect. Some of them might be the best players. It enables the more experienced players to extend their careers as well.

Andre Esterhuizen has just come back (now playing CC rugby), and Siya Kolisi is on the short-term injury list with his face injury. Those are some big names!

Absolutely bs. Rassie changed rugby for ever! South Africa can make 3 even strong teams with plenty people waiting to enter those teams. A few years ago flower bombs were drop on the field while the Springboks played in New Zealand. New Zealand wanted Alartheid gone. Now Apartheid is gone. This is the result. There is no discrimination in South African rugby and they play for more than just a game, they play for every person in South Africa.

You can't argue with it's success but SA are so unentertaining to watch as a rugby fan. Naturally SA fans love it & i get it, but i genuinely think they drive casual fans away from the sport in droves. Turgid, low risk, boring to watch rugby. I believe rugby should be a game of evasion not collision. This style of rugby could send a glass eye to sleep & i believe this style’s success is rugby’s greatest challenge. P.S: Here in the northern hemisphere we have a similar problem with ireland & leinster. Success yes, entertainment none! Unless you’re a fan of either side of course.

Well, I didn't like their style of play too but we must admit that all the recent Springboks games in 2024 were fairly entertaining. Apart from the forwards they now have players who do magic on the pitch: Kurt Lee Arendse, Sacha Feinberg Mngomezulu, Aphelele Fassi, Mannie Libbok etc
