The first season of “Homeland” follows Nicholas Brody, a U.S. Marine who was missing in action in Iraq for eight years and was presumed dead by the U.S. government. However, Brody is rescued unexpectedly and welcomed home as a hero.
Meanwhile, CIA agent Carrie Mathison suspects that Brody may have been turned by the terrorist organization al-Qaeda and become a sleeper terrorist in the United States. Carrie has received intelligence indicating that al-Qaeda is planning a major attack on the United States. She believes that Brody is involved in this plot, although there is no conclusive evidence.
The entire first season is full of psychological games and suspense, as Carrie tries to uncover Brody's true identity and motives, while Brody faces many trials and tribulations as he returns to his family and society. The series explores complex themes such as terrorism, loyalty, mental health, and personal trauma, culminating in a tense counter-terrorism operation and the revelation of Brody's true position.
