** WARNING: One of the photographs in this video may be disturbing to some viewers. After careful consideration, we chose to include it to convey the true horror of this story and to illustrate the reality faced by those who investigate such crime scenes. However, we have omitted two photographs that depict the gratuitous torture of a dog.

Steve had used that same photo of Ruth in one of his books so we just thought it probably was okay to use without it offending anyone. As for the dog, we know some will say, "well you showed a body, so why not a dog?", well, the dog was killed in our opinion, with gratuitous violence. Ruth was killed because of a robbery. I'm not saying this was an excuse to kill Ruth, but the two are completely different. Not sure that makes sense, but it's the only way I can explain it here. I'll go into more during our livestream in a weeks time.

It's crazy how it's all blown up these last three to four weeks. One video has, I think, pushed the channel out to a lot of people. We are trying to work out which, the analytics can only show us so much but not everything. We aren't complaining as it's been a dream of mine, personally, to create something that others may like or find interesting. Okay, they aren't for everyone as we have and are getting a small minority of people finding the most mundane of things to complain about, but that's par the course on here and social media platforms. We can thank you enough for your support, and we love the interaction and comments you are leaving us with.

Hi Chris & Vickie. I am a very new visitor to your KZbin channel and absolutely love it. Hi Robert, thanks for the very kind comments and as much as we would love to admit to being professionals, no, we just enjoy doing what we do. The research part and the visiting some of these interesting locations to bring these stories to life once more is an honour for us both. We know these vidoes aren't going to be for everyone, but if someone doesnt like them, all we ask is them to be civil to us and those around us, such as you, the community. Hopefully you will like the earlier videos we did a few years ago, although we personally cringe when watching them back. Hopefully we are getting a little bit better at them now.

Interesting story thank you. Nelson is nowhere near the place it once was. It's years since I've been back there. My grandparents are buried at Walton lane so my reason to go back from time to time is to visit the grave. Nelson was lovely and the town was very busy it was empty when I went so sad.

What I do love about Nelson is the older building that still remain, and the place still has many old, cobbled roads or alleyways. People who know me, know I do love a good cobbled road haha. As for the area in terms of shops etc, to be honest, I've never gone there to shop. When we filmed this, we went early morning to avoid any groups of people so we dont know if the place gets busy or not.

Does anyone think that Ruth and Mary might actually have been a couple but unable to say so due to the convention of the times? And that Ruth descended into squalor because of her grief? The fact that they lived together for so long, Mary left Ruth everything and they were buried close by each other suggests it to me...

One of the first things I said to Vickie when looking into this story, and it was I wondered if they were a couple, rather than just close, good friends.

I consider this to probably be correct.Secrecy was essential(as you noted) for there are many people today who keep it quiet in Western democracies because people's views are always at odds with the law.The latter may (as in Northern England) be legal but I wouldn't dream of coming out if I was so inclined.Too many people can't just let one lead a life hurting no-one.

Was Ruth always a bit “messy” in her ways or did she lose interest in everything except her faithful companion after her friend passed away? Perhaps the loss of her friend was more emotional for her than her sudden wealth, after all wealth could not replace her friend.

The photo is sickening, as is the one of Ruth, but it is weird as we, as humans, are kind of sensitized to graphic images in this day and age of PEOPLE being injured or murdered, and yet the image of an animal that has been tortured to death would infuriate and sicken most people. I hope this makes some sense, as I also realise some will ask why we show Ruth but not the dog?
