Any old school guys will remember Ian McPherson. His dad (and also black belt) (Mr.)Jim said to me once a long time ago, “No matter what happens don’t stop coming.” Can’t think of a better way to put it than that. RIP Jim. Miss you. Good training out there everyone and stay safe. 🙏🏽

Its hard, can be expensive, is time consuming for what arguably is very little real world gain. In the grand scheme of life being an above average grapppler is not really a top priority. It is for elite level athletes making money but for joe schmo hobbyists that factors big into the equation of sticking with it or not.

Doesn't that apply to everything? Most people that start a hobby never reach the pinnacle of expertise of that skill.

From experience I’d say it’s because of injuries. Personally, I’ve been doing it for a year and I’ve never had as many injuries doing any other sport. I’ve seen so many people I started with drop out and when we eventually caught up and I asked why, they all said the same thing re injuries.

#1 it's freaking hard... and you get hurt alot...and are sore alot..... #2 it takes 10 years on average to get a blackbelt...... those 2 are the main reasons.

Maybe because they realise it’s not making them BANK $ and they’re also paying alot for it..they get injured,,then skip work, then use money again to take care of their body😅😅 or Maybe they just wanna do something else..
