I was a teen when the Atari 2600 was all the rage and back then I never knew about those 2 games. I first knew about them in Fangoria but they just talked about them no screenshots or anything were shown. It wasn't until AVGN that I finally saw them. What killed these 2 games is that the sellers couldn't display them with the rest they kept them behind the counter and you had to ask for them just like with the adult videogames! Too bad there's lots of movies that could have been turned into games. Interesting topic and cool video Christian!👉🙂👈

Great video! Did Charles Band ever wind up selling those new old stock game boxes he said he found in his warehouse? That'd be cool to get, even if not on the level.

That’s a really good question! Who knows, I’ve heard so many different rumors about this. A buddy of mine used to work at Full Moon, and he said he was never able to find out anything more about them. I think I heard others say that Charles Band made it up, or that they were re-production boxes that he was trying to flip while giving impression that they are originals. One thing that is for sure consistent, is the amount of people I’ve heard claim that he’s a sketchy dude, so honestly none of that would surprise me 🤷

@SMSmediaservices Yeah, that whole new-old big box things was sketchy. I thought i read that it came out that they were definitely newly printed but now i can't find anything definitive about it. Charles Band is a legend, but part of doing what he does involves being a carny, selling cheap movies as so much more than they are using posters, vhs boxes, etc. it's equally as possible for him to find an old box of uncut vhs boxes in a warehouse, attic, etc, as it is to get new ones printed up.

I remember years ago seeing the Halloween Atari game with just a piece of tape and the word Halloween written in orange marker on the cart. This was on eBay but I don't remember what the seller was asking for it.

Nice scoring both, I have a repro for Halloween but that's it! I am surprised no one has tried to get the license to do a reprint!

Really cool. Im surprised there isn't that much coverage on this topic. With bloody dismemberment at this time, these games are an important part of gaming history.

I still own my original copies for both of these games. I bought them together in an eBay listing for $75 back in like 2011. To say the least…I think I ended up making a pretty good investment when comparing to what the typical asking prices are today 😂

Honestly, those two Atari games look fun. I used to own the NES Friday the 13th game. I used to love playing it. I don’t know whatever happened to it. But I enjoyed this video.

They are to people who have never played a horror game before. We fans unfortunately become immune to the scares over time

The reason why stores hide the game behind counter was due to a parent who bought The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Atari 2600 game give it to their kid and then went back to store asked for a refund complain was also shown news and had other parents rally to have that game removed from store shelves or put behind a counter so no one else can buy the game.

The first time I noticed these Awesome looking videogames was when I was a kid and foraging through the newest Fangoria magazine at the time. They looked so cool. I was dying(no pun intended), to get my hands on these games...unfortunately I never got to buy them. Now as a 55 year old man ,I would still love to try them...maybe someday!
