The Netflix show is so far from the truth and inaccurate to point where she appears to be some timid housewife forced to be ruthless in order to survive in Miami. But in reality she was hard from an earlier age. I don’t know why they went that route but I didn’t agree with how she was portrayed in the show, inaccurate in my opinion

Sophia Vergara was really good when she portrayed Griselda, first, because she has the accent of Colombian and we can imagine that Griselda had it, and second, because she showed emotion when she talked about what she was doing all for her children, a typical motherhood Latino. Griselda came from nothing but built a drug empire not easy. As a Colombian born, and like many others, we don’t feel comfortable with the series. It portrays one of the darkest moments, after all, something we’re ashamed and sad for. As a matter of dignity, many consider there shouldn’t be a series about Escobar. Why do Hollywood keep remind us of these facts. All about money (including Sofia :-()

So regarding the question of which portrayal of Griselda do I like the best. Honestly, none of them and I have watched them all. The reason I say this is because everyone who tries to tell the story approaches it with a motive, i.e. Lets make her more family orientated, or lets make her crazy and vengeful, plus all of them are more than happy to make the portrayals as violent as possible. So how much of all these portrayals accurately show who she is? I would imagine she was all those things but its not whether a particular behavior is included or not but how much the behavior tips the scale of the movie. The new show tips the scale to portray her as a mother just doing all this for her children and also doesnt show all the stuff correctly, for instance, how she gets captured in the movie is inacurate. She doesnt call the police on herself to avoid Rafa killing her. This and other incidences are shown throughout the movie. Does Sofia Vergara play the part well, Yes, very well and if she would have played in a movie that was accurate about Griselda Blanco she would be great. We have interviews with people who new her as well as the police who investigated and caught her. Now all these people claim the others are lying about the facts but you can still get a good idea of what happened by reviewing all the years of interviews from that time and the reported facts.

It’s really hard to get Netflix to Green light more than six episodes these days it seems and then often when it does, they drag out the last two episodes. they can’t seem to find a happy middle ground. That’s why it’s so important to outline the season and each episode to make sure there’s enough time to get in all of the character development and details.
