In this week's episode of #TheShootingShow, Mark Ripley (aka 260Rips) uses the new Thermion 2 LRF XP50 Pro to clear a few foxes from the fields before the lambing season gets underway. Then he’s back to thin out a few wily crows that are sure to become a menace on the lambing fields over the coming weeks.
Finally, Shooting Times car reviewer Ed Coles brings us his view on the Ssangyong Rexton.

@@260rips it certainly looks like it, they specialise in aftermarket tikka bits and bobs. I run 3 of their rails and been looking at their mags for my foxing rig.

What do you do with the foxes once shot
@260rips
@260rips 2 жыл бұрын
As most of the farms are livestock farms they generally have a dead bin which is emptied by contractors so they usually end up in here 👍

@@nickcoombe5372 just as well we get all this gear to test as the suppliers are paying for the videos! Having come from lugging motorcycle batteries around to power lamps and shot plenty of foxes that way it’s simply moving with the times. If it makes life easier why not!
@260rips
@260rips 2 жыл бұрын
@@nickcoombe5372 Technology has moved on but field craft is still there and the old ways are still used. I regularly call foxes by hand as we did years ago. Nature is smart and even with such modern gear foxes still know your there if they catch a hint of your scent of see the nv infra red light or hear a small sound - they adapt as we do. Everything changes with technology as we as humans always use items that make our life easier, look at everything else in your life that has changed that you didn’t do 30 hrs back! In this day and age to be the most effective service to a farmer you will use every advantage you can 🤷🏻‍♂️ Trust me there are plenty out there that even with all the best gear still can’t shoot a fox! And yes I remember the Warrener he was a good old country boy, unfortunate what happened with him I would like to see him doing videos again 👍

Most vixens will have cubs down in the den between now and May , why don't you shoot them in the winter months ? The timing seems a little unfair !!
@260rips
@260rips 2 жыл бұрын
We do cull them in the winter and hit them particularly hard at the end of the year when they are pairing up yet they quickly move in to vacant territories. We need to continue to cull them now with spring lambing underway.

Ah I see , I understand the need to cull them of course , just feel sorry for the cubs ! Jeep up the good work
