Bonjour Marie-Anne. I believe you were spot on with your decisions, which were beautiful. I view myself this way too when shopping with a disciplined and fairly critical eye. This is because I have spent so many years and too much money buying clothes, going with the shop assistants opinion and later realising to my horror that the clothes either do not fit my lifestyle or I have something similar already or it was bought on impulse thinking I needed a change in the way I dress! These were big mistakes on my part. Needless to say I have learnt my lesson the hard way, through wasted money, many declutters of my wardrobe over the years and the pain of constant decision making not to mention the wasted time it has taken for me to now arrive at where I am with my wardrobe. There was a shop I would frequently buy from years ago and spent a lot of my money there. The assistants were charming, friendly and my husband and I got to know them well. With hindsight I now realise I was a commodity to them and they would push clothes at me every time and I fell for it, when one day my husband had realised their game and told me it became my wake up call. Now I am vigilant and in charge of my decisions when shopping and very much happier for it. I have also noticed that one does not need to buy as often or as much and appreciation of something new is so much greater when it happens. When clothes are worn out or when there is a gap in the wardrobe and occasionally when one feels in need of an update, other than that save time and instead enjoy all the other things life has to offer. I learnt from this video that just because there is a matching item to a dress or pants, it doesn't mean you have to buy it. I always felt that if there was a jacket to match the dress or pants that I should buy it to have a set. Thx for sharing.

Marie-Anne, the main benefit I've already received from you is learning what I like and how to recognize when something fits my aesthetic. Where you love stripes, I am passionate about dots - dotted swiss, polka dots on a regular repeat or random. You incorporate navy as chromatic neutral; I love red, and blush/ballet pink and peach. I saw a few items in the boutique I would definitely try on.

Haha those were the two I chose for u too!😂💗 The trousers r lovely and the fit of the dress was perfect. I liked the white trousers too but the waistband wasn't elegant...it added bulk to the middle when ur actually quite svelt...not a flattering cut..otherwise they were gorgeous and fit well, just needed less fabric around the waist. Lovely choices and very good advice! When I was young I found it difficult to resist the pressure from sales assistants, so I bought far too many items. Years later I managed a boutique and I tried a different way to sell. If a sales person is honest, gives advice in the best interest of the customer then they will not experience the terrible post shopping dismay that I remember from my youth. This makes for happy, loyal customers more often than not. I love what you said "if is not a wow, then it is a no". That is such good advice for life in general, not just for shopping!

I really liked the dress that you got. But I also liked the 1st coat that you put on with it. I liked the length of it for the dress but since it was all the same color, it seemed like jewelry or a scarf maybe would need to spark it up. I liked the red jacket on you or perhaps you just look good in red, I’m not sure. But definitely not that scarf. The trousers you bought I thought looked tight in the back. If I had put them on, I would have gone up to the next size but maybe there just a comfort issue that is different for both of us. I love seeing you in these classic clothes that always have an extra touch that make them special. It was fun to shop with you. It really helps when I go shopping, I try to remember what you teach us.

The hunt for flattering trousers seems never ending. I like a high waist but without pleats which accentuate any tummy. I usually like a straight leg, but I appreciated what you said about flared; it certainly is dressier, although it gives me a presence I'm not used to. I have a pair of Oscar De La Renta (homemade) woollen pants (flared ),which are lovely.

Firstly, you’re beautiful, and everything looks good on you. Your tell is not the expression on your face (basically, I could not see your face.) I can tell what you’re really thrilled about by your feet! If heels and toes come off the floor several times, it’s a win. You stand flat footed and don’t move if you don’t care for it!

You absolutely made the best decisions with the clothing selections you made. Instantly, even without seeing you smile, one could see that the dress was beautiful on you. Same with the checked pants. Cream colored trousers were a definite, No. Maybe if the waist was higher it would have been more flattering. Mid rise pants are very unflattering and at one time they were all you could get. Thankfully high rise trousers are making a come back. Another great video. Thank you!

I do want to say, some of my jackets are larger for bulky sweaters underneath in winter. So the season sometimes matters with the size of a jacket. My summer jackets are smaller. Loved this video. It’s a very informative video, cannot wait for more like this one. I assume that when you go shopping, you have a list of items you’re looking for. It would prevent from an impulse buy, would keep you in check on spending, and would add a beautiful couple of items to your chic wardrobe. I loved the Chanel- like dress, but with the tweed jacket it looked too matchy- matchy. When you tried the leather jacket on, it was a quite better change. The camel coat was very baggy, it did nothing for you, as well as the red jacket. I understand you resistance to buy the cream trousers, but how many times per year you can wear them? 2-3 the most. You saved yourself from a buyer’s remorse. 😊
