The Shores Lake to White Rock Mountain Loop Trail in Arkansas

A Great Fall Backpacking Trip on the 15+ mile Loop from Shores Lake up to White Rock Mountain. We started at Shores Lake & hiked up the West Side to White Rock for the Sunset & to camp. The next morning we hiked around the Rim Trail & back down the East Side to complete the Loop. Another Great Trip here in the Ozarks!

Hey john, thanks for the vid, was this in early, mid or late oct? I'm guessing the second week of oct.? I'm headed for a month long thru hike from fort smith to gilbert on the OHT/BRT! Any suggestions?

armond sangillo This video was made from my hike I did late October 2013 of the loop. I was actually there the last week of October. The 27th & 28th. I too have done the OHT & the BRT. I did it in reverse. Started at the Buffalo. Great hike & you will will love it. Wear your Hunter Orange that time of year just in case. Lots of great info can be found over on the Backpacking Arkansas Forum.

Its a good 13 a little more if you go on up to white rock.Assuming that you start down at the shores lake trailhead.I have done it several times over the years in a day.Its a heck of a fun work out .:)

It depends. Every year is different, but from the middle to late October is usually the best.

This is a challenging but beautiful day hike or overnight backpack. I've hiked it many times and agree that it is one of the very best. Great video, Gary, thanks for posting.
