I don’t think I’ve ever been able to even _imagine_ canon Alastor looking so shaken, unhinged, desperate, and manic all at the same time before this sequence. Sure he still has the vague shape of his normal smile, but his eyebrows creasing, upper lip curling, eyes wildly darting around, subtler yet much more frequent ear movements than have been in the entire show up till now, and of course his hands gripping his face and mussing his hair - that is a man barely hanging onto the last threads of his already questionable sanity. And I kinda love it. Alastor’s such a cool villain. So much about him is shrouded in mystery, he’s charming enough to trick _the audience_ into thinking he can be trusted, and even at a lower power level, his sheer determined _menace_ is enough for him to still prove a threat. I knew I made a wise decision picking him as my favorite character from the pilot, and while Lucifer has almost certainly usurped that spot in the show proper, I have a feeling Al will still be a favorite villain by the show’s end. This Radio Asshole’s come a long way from the little feral gremlin deer he started as circa 2008, and I gotta say, I’m kinda proud of him 🖤📻🦌

I like how Alastor, even when he's alone and having a complete mental breakdown, is still trying his hardest to keep his smile. It's like he's trying to convince himself that he's in control. The fact that his smile is faltering shows that he knows he's not in control. It's a very good detail that goes back to his convo with Charlie from the prior episode

Like, he has teeth like the cannibals in Cannibal Town and a close friendship with Rosie, plus a backstory that involves him being a cannibal radio presenter. So I think when he was making himself known as the Radio Demon, he was cannibalising those overlord souls, and someone likely defeated him and forced him to stop. Which could be Lilith, but could potentially be Zestial (as he's the only one with a bright green colour scheme and he's one of two overlords confirmed to be older than Alastor (with the other, Camilla, being a close friend of his).

It's all in the way you animate the eyes. The eyes can give you different degrees of emotions based and how low or high the eyebrows/eye lids are. The lower the eye lid, the more tired or empathetic they look. To look shocked or scared you expose the pupils by opening the eye lids and heighten the eye brows like Alistair when he says "constraints of my deal must have a back door". And to come back to Lucifer, the animator basically dropped the eyelids/eyebrows low enough so that the pupil is somewhat covered and a sadish look to the eyebrows. This gives him a feeling of empathy and caring towards her. Just some fun insight for animation!

Yes I think this scene is so underrated. They obviously hint that Luci and Charlie had their porblems before with him obviously not believing in her (most likely because Charlies dreaming reminds him of himself while he knows where this brought him) which results in her 'daddy issues'. This makes this scene so important for both of them. For Charlie because she finally gets aknowledged by her father [Bonus fact I noticed was that if you pay attention to Charlies body language when she's interacting with Lucifer it's always guarded and insecure while with others she is not if not the oppositeb(here especially well visibile when she hugs Al in the end in contrast to when Lucifer hugs her in the beginning)] qnd for Lucifer as he finally opens up to dream again.

@@outrider2177 I like the theory that Lucifer WANTED to back charlie up, but had some deal with heaven that basically made it impossible to get involved, and that the only reason he could get involved at all was specifically the threat on charlie's life by Adam right before lucifer first shows himself at the battle. A deal basically saying "I will not interfere, but charlie is completely off limits" and Adam broke that deal, and now he can FULLY support her, but of course he couldn't have told her that...she would never understand why he'd make such a deal in the first place, and now that the deal is no more, he can and most likely WILL be more involved in the operations of the hotel. an ultimate "YOU SEE WHAT YOUR PRECIOUS ADAM DID HEAVEN?!"

I love the tiny details the moment Alastor appears again. I had not noticed it when i first watched it but at that scene you can see how Lucifer and Husk's moods shift immediately. You can barely hear it but Lucifer says "Ah this guy..." and Charlie also squeaks an "AL!" right as she hugs him, i love that scene.
