When I first noticed him around 2006 I just hated the buzz and him crying and he looked like a brat to me. But for how outspoken and rude he gets sometimes, I really appreciate how he isn't afraid to show all of himself, including what's ugly and that he's not a perfect pretty face. It also helps that he's an absolute tank on the field. Nowadays I feel like he's a great inspirational guy who really knows how to use the spotlight constructively. But frankly, in my country the media is more fond of Ronaldo than Messi it seems (Netherlands).

Few years back my home team Bournemouth somehow managed to get a pre season friendly with Real Madrid at Dean Court. During the game a Ronaldo free kick went over the bar and into the home crowd behind the goal hitting a young lads hand and broke his wrist. He found out what happened and sent the lad a signed Real Madrid shirt which the little lad proudly displayed on the front page of the local paper. Top professional and superb role model, not bad at football either !
