When i was in Cuba one of the ladies had security cameras and locks all over here house because someone was stealing her birds from her roof! But i've never been to an area warning people they can be linched! it's crazy right

My family and I were just there and fell in love with Oaxaca. Beautiful city beautiful people and full of history. I’m with you on doing your own thing when you go to a city. Hey, the graciousness and generosity of the Oaxacans. Tnis lady prays for you and wishes you a safe journey. She is unafraid and maybe a little curious and amused. Oaxaca is the best part of Mexico. The more Spanish I speak, the more I find people ignore my white skin and tell me a bit more about their lives and about what it is to live in Mexico. It is a very courteous culture, but their manners veer towards warmth whereas the former manners of Canadians veered towards distance and impersonalization.

There are also plants that were taken to Europe. And years later when botanist s came to study growing in native environment they were no longer to be found. we do know in many environments of Americas that species of bugs(ie: pollinators) disappeared even before Europeans crossed those locales.

Glad to see you came to Mexico. I live in Nuevo Laredo, Mx, on the border across from Laredo, Texas. Thanks for showing people that it's not all beaches and tourist traps. There is so much more to Mexico and the people are great. Visitors need to use common sense and mind their own business. Most of Mexico is no more dangerous than the average US city.

Probably less dangerous than here in Philadelphia Pa USA. Sadly it's become very dangerous here. Sadly Worst it's ever been in my life. Someone was just shot dead getting carjacked a block from my home at 1030 pm. Never happened before I. My 58 years here.

I visited Monte Alban in March 2021 (after nearly three months in Oaxaca) and my life changed shortly thereafter. I didn’t realize in 1990 during my bus journey from Mexico City to Chetumal that my most prominent memory of the trip - a Oaxaca sign, illuminated in passing (in the darkness) would come back to feature so largely. Where is Dan destined for a much larger audience.

Dogs do know we don’t look like others around them if we’re in a country where we stick out. In Battambang, Cambodia, I had a pack of five after me when returning to my hotel from dinner. It was dark! I kept facing them and yelled until someone heard me. I always travel with pepper spray, but there were so many and I didn’t want to do it prematurely. Worrying about people stabbing me? Nope. A racist dog? Yes. 😅
