Second time listening to this. I really love this lecture and I really love that I listened the first time and got great insight and now this time it's like I am hearing brand new information. Notes: • Guidance and good deeds will get you closer to Allah (swt). • Every bad deed takes us away from the path of guidance. • Allah (swt) loves and responds to good deeds and piousness by rewarding with guidance and success. • The Quran will only guide those who are receptive to it. • 2 states of a Believer; intense patience and gratitude. • Increased acts of piousness will allow you to take benefit from the Quran. • Sabr and shukr is required to take benefit from the Quran. • Constantly remind yourself of the aakhira. • The Signs will mean nothing to us unless we are afraid of Allah (swt). • The peak of shukr is tawhid. • The peak of sabr is to abstain from any invitation to fulfilling the lowly desire; nafs. • Takwa enlivens the heart to allow us to; o Perform good deeds. o Make supplications / dua. o Fear Allah (swt) o Learn, understand and follow the Quran and Sunnah.
