Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically across the plains?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Regarding space debris, does it all orbit the same direction as the Earth's rotation?
@loonatic90
@loonatic90 Ай бұрын
No. It orbits as it was launched or whatever is the orbit resulting from collision with something else. There are things being launched retrograde (opposite of earth's rotation), things can be launched to polar orbits, etc. basically whatever direction you want for particular mission.

Tiny drone that can take pictures if something goes wrong....Save time of the Bright and we will Grow Strong.
@scottdorfler2551
@scottdorfler2551 28 күн бұрын
A drone adds to much complexity and mass. Although all rovers should have drones like Ingenuity on Mars. NASA has always been anti-camera. Instead, they've used sensors to troubleshoot. But cameras are so inexpensive, small, and light now that NASA should revise this policy. It would be easy to put small cameras on all satellites, orbiters, landers, rovers, and probes. A few 360° cameras would cover every inch of a craft without adding much mass and complexity.

What is the issue with supplying these craft with RTG power supplies ? Probably because we are afraid of making more plutonium !!
@MarcusWolfWanders

if the craft were to have a catastrophic problem during launch or fly-by, radioactive material could spread unchecked. they're a lot more careful about that kind of thing nowadays.

The flight plan coming back so close to Earth would not have been approved on safety grounds if an RTG was on board.
@MarcusWolfWanders
@MarcusWolfWanders Ай бұрын
using a Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator (RTG) would be a risk during launch and a risk during Earth-fly-by if something were to go wrong and spread radioactive material. Protocols and safety are a bit more stringent nowadays.

WHY TF does the video loop and replay a full second time with no audio??,,, what kind of bullshit "CONtent" _IS_ this?.. doesn't anyone check what your AI is cranking out? or do you just read the scripts it writes and then let it have it's way with the production??... Or is it out of sheer greed having twice the footage to cram ads into?

until science can bridge the gap between nothing existing and the first "something" coming to be, i could care less about everything else. though ive always wondered how long the Universe would have to wait after we have destroyed ourselves for life to pop up somewhere else, if it ever will. the only real question that I would have is, considering how large the actual Universe is (we can only see 46.5 billion LYs each direction, but we KNOW its gotta be considerably bigger), how relevant is life really to the purpose of the Universe? from our experience, life tends to always take the most efficient paths in everything it does, and creating this enormous playground sure seems to be a huge waste for one little blue rock full of semi-smart animals. and the next question would be, if we disappeared..... whats the point of existence? or are we nothing more than an accident.
@Mafyeux
@Mafyeux 4 күн бұрын
Sagan said: "We are the way for the universe to know itself." I believe that. What if non-existence was never an option? It's not unthinkable that in the scope of infinity, all things simply must exist. All you really need for this to be the case is the truth of infinity, and the pure potential of existence itself. We know that there is potential for existence, because we have existence. We strongly suspect that infinity is a real thing, not only in our math, but in our intuition. When it comes to existence (or creation if you want to think of it that way), the pinnacle achievement (read: most complex system) of nature would be consciousness, a way to witness creation itself. Sprinkle in a little quantum science and a little Panpsychism, and you basically get God putting you here to worship His glory because He was bored and lonely. But what's a god to do? Just sit there in the middle of infinite pure unrealized potential, with all the power of creation in the palm of his hand, and just say "Nah." Any way you look at it, there wasn't likely any possibility of just nothing instead of something. Additionally, I propose that existence in a truly infinite universe is an all or nothing proposition. All potential things, everything that can be, is. So you're part of that. My theory anyway. 😉
