Great reaction! Fun fact: Jodie Foster wanted this part after reading the book. The director absolutely didn’t want her and instead offered the part to Michelle Pfeiffer, who turned it down. Then he offered it to Meg Ryan who also turned it down. Finally, he gave it to Jodie who then went on to win an oscar. He also won best director. There’s some interesting interviews on yt with the director.

12:01 I have been working for a funeral home for nine years now. I have seen some disturbing things, things that have made me cry and want to quit, but there is a rewarding side to it. I never thought I would say that when I started working there all those years ago, but, if you have the gift of empathy, you can do a lot of good helping to console the families who have lost their loved ones. Thank you for saying you have respect for people in this line of work. And, as always, thank you for your reaction videos. I’ve been following you for a while now, and I adore you! 👏🏻

"A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti." Eww... Fava beans. Gross. 😝 Fun Fact: The rules for speaking with Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Sir Anthony Hopkins) is the same as the rules for speaking with Ethan Powell in Instinct (1999), a role also played by Hopkins. Awards Milestone Fact: This is one of three movies to win the top five Oscars: Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Picture, and Best Screenplay. The others are It Happened One Night (1934) and One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (1975). What Script Fact: Jodie Foster claims that during the first meeting between Dr. Hannibal Lecter and Clarice Starling, Sir Anthony Hopkins's mocking of her southern accent was improvised on the spot. Foster's horrified reaction was genuine since she felt personally attacked. She later thanked Hopkins for generating such an honest reaction. Law Enforcement Cooperation Fact: The real-life FBI's Behavioral Science Unit assisted in the making of this movie. The FBI saw it as a potential recruiting tool to hire more female agents. They were very impressed by this movie's accuracy in depicting criminal investigations, serial killers, and their victims. However, they disagreed with Clarice (Jodie Foster) discovering Buffalo Bill (Ted Levine) on her own, because inexperienced agents would never be sent out alone on dangerous assignments.

I worked the census a couple times 2010 and 2020. It sucked especially the 2020. No one likes strangers showing up at their door in the modern day. but at least no one ate my liver! So if you don't like strangers showing up at your house then send in the damn form! You send in the form and more than likely you are good.

Hi there! When my daughter was still a toddler, we didn't really bother to censor what she watched, and this movie particularly fascinated her. We went to blockbuster (speaks to how long ago this was) for her to pick out a movie. Two adoring elderly people were watching her, and saw her with a copy of Silence of the Lambs. "Oh, NO, little girl, you don't want to watch THAT movie....." She proceeds to tell them that she's already seen it and that they found the killer because he put a special moth in the girl's throat. They were HORRIFIED. Well, she'd worked her way through all the Disney ones...a very down to earth and practical child, she felt free to ask questions. About EVERYTHING. Serial killers? Yeah. WHY? She asked. I told her that's the point, that we've been trying to figure out why. Don't give up, Migs gets his comeuppence. Rude boy. I want a bumper sticker that states "Eat the rude." Ted Bundy would get girls to help him by wearing an arm sling. Male dominated; yes, upon discussion with a real agent...I told him I was aware they chose her as BAIT, but added that it worked, though she made several critically stupid moves. He was disueding me against the fantasy of being a female agent. Not to worry...I don't want serial killers knowing my name and face, thank you. I'm more of a labwork/research person. The staff showed her little respect, she was...disposable. Still liked the movie! And Jodie's just hot. Really wish she had done the sequal, though I understand her hesitation about taking the role. NOBODY wants Precious to get killed! NOT THE DOG screams the entire movie audience. I love the way he plays Hannbal Lector. The man is cool, articulate, educated, suave, intelligent, fascinating, compelling......and TERRIFYING. You know he's going to mindrape you. Thank you for sharing your reaction! I've seen it dozens of times but I love sharing it with someone who hasn't seen it. ❤

Indeed, and it's great, because they didn't try to make this beautiful woman stronger than men or any of the other weird stuff they do nowadays. She was incredibly intelligent, proficient with a firearm, and had the bravery to do what needed to be done. Starling (and Jodi herself) used her talents well and it's inspiring to see.

I always took the title as ... her not being able to rescue her lamb as a child and that screaming haunting her. Then later in life she has a chance to save something/someone and keep her from getting killed and she hopes that memory that haunts her goes away.. pretty much exactly what Hannibal said to her. Btw another edge of your seat thriller with incredible acting ... "Misery" .

The victims were like the lambs Clarice tried to save as a child. They were being slaughtered, silenced, and skinned. Clarice had to save at least one. She didn’t let fear or danger stop her from what she needed to do.

He found her intriguing. She was a little female and she was relentless in trying to save victims. She ignored all her fears and the disrespect and sexism of being in a male dominated field. He wanted to know why she was who she was. He got to know her upbringing and trauma. It was satisfying to him.

Would love to see your reaction to it! Thanks for the reaction, and I'll add to the many comments who have suggested Seven as a film you might like! This is my favorite movie of all time. I’ve always had a fascination with true crime but cannibalism really turns my stomach (as it should) so I never watched this movie until my early 20s when I was hanging out at my parents’ house and my dad was like “you have to watch this. It’s a classic” and he was right. Anthony Hopkins is an absolute icon. Any time anyone mentions fava beans or Chianti, my while family does the little teeth sucking thing Hannibal does.

1. The lisping sound Hopkins makes after he says, 'I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti." is the first scene he and Foster did together and he wanted to freak her out, so her reaction is real. 2. Ted Levine/Buffalo Bill was so disturbing that he received death threats after this was released. 3. The FBI actually let them use their Quantico facility to film. 4. In the book Crawford did have a "thing" for Clarice. 5. "I'm coming to get you Murdock". The late😇 Charles Napier/Lt. Boyle played Murdock in "Rambo First Blood II". A great first time/share. 6. Everybody is hitting on Clarice but IRL hitting on Foster is a waste of time and effort. She doesn't fly that way. She has been married to a woman since it became legal in Caliphony. 7. Dr. Lecter was treating Clarice 8. Others will pass this to you as well but: This movie won ALL 5 of the big Oscars.

This is the first time you've seen Anthony Hopkins? I'm just now watching him in King Lear on Prime, but he's been in a ton of stuff. Titus for more bloody things, but also Thor. He played Odin (and in Thor 3 he played Loki for about 14 minutes). Granted, he's not acting like Hannibal Lector in other movies. He's also cool in Lion in Winter which is an older movie. He plays King Richard. I don't know if you can react to the Hannibal tv show (I believe that one has a serious copyright ban hammer going on) but that's another take on the character - it's basically every Hannibal story except this one put together.
