This video is such a breath of fresh air amongst much of the negativity surrounding the combat trailer. You have given reasonable/unbiased criticisms that comes across as genuine feedback. Something I believe is what the company/studio should be receiving instead of all the passive aggressive responses mostly targeting Konami’s and Bloober’s reputation/track record, but not the trailer itself. This remake needs to be viewed as what it is, a video game, by having a clear-minded/objective approach to concerns/criticism as any other game in history.

My consensus was always three simple words, as soon as the reveal was shown: Let Bloober Cook. This is by far the biggest project they’ve ever gotten. I’m sure they’re gonna do it justice with multiple members of the original team overseeing it. Not just that, I’m sure they want to prove themselves and show that they really care about this product. James himself is not acting apathetic amnesiac like in the original which already removes tons of nuance about her wife's death. QTE's, remastered music which didn't need remastering, 3rd person camera is garbage and doesn't belong to SH 2 because it removes the anxiety of not knowing whats in front of you and making you feel claustrophobic indoors and the voice actors just can't get that dreamy-esc tone to their voices. Thank you for this. People are bugging out and passing judgement on a game that's in active development that probably won't be out until I'm 50 based on basically a "proof of concept" trailer. And the combat in SH games is supposed to be awkward and out of control, which is part of what adds to the tension and vulnerability. The game is still in development in is constantly being worked on the team behind it has said on many records they want to make sure that they're staying true to the original game and are taking this very seriously. Even in the most recent combat trailer it said it was still in development people started complaining about the combat immediately and like I said the team behind it is not just going to see that and not do anything I'm sure they'll smooth it out make it better besides the combat the monsters look good the puzzles that they showed look good and besides things that they can improve about the textures like small details it doesn't look bad the graphics look good

I watched the trailers for this remake and really like what I see. And like you said, who cares even if this remake is just a cash grab. As long as it is good I'm behind it. What if we found out that great games like the last of us remake were made with the intention to be a cash grab, would that make the last of us remake a bad game or a game that we shouldn't want? Bloober's last game "The Medium" was pretty meh. People are right to be skeptical. It'll be interesting to see how well the voice actors fair as I don't think I've heard any spoken lines in trailers. Why would you release a combat trailer in that state? Were it meant to be shown so long ago why even show it? You have to know all the criticism that will follow and how it would shape people's perception of your product. As with most modern games I'm not hyped at all and will remain skeptical until I see the final product. This is one of the most highly regarded horror games so a lot is expected of Bloober. Hopefully they can deliver.

It‘s so silly. Ppl don‘t wanna give things a chance anymore. I see this from all sides too. From more progressive ppl as well as more edgy conservative leaning places. The first game and the 3d gotta be my faves but they‘d be ripped to shreds if they came out today. I totally understand bashing some of the technical aspects of it, but not the combat. It's literally the same combat the original SH2 had, just with updated visuals (better movements, graphics, camera work, etc). The weapons shown were the same ones you get in the original. They literally showed hitting enemies with a plank of wood and shooting a few guns at them. That's Silent Hill combat. That's what it is. I'm really starting to think the average gamer today is borderline brain dead.

​​@@postl3My biggest complaints being most of the same ones you stated, however, there are a few other things that need a lot of work. Mainly, the lighting and atmospheric effects. The fog, itself, looks decent but kinda lacking. In the origin SH2 it's thick and it's swirling all around you in a really dynamic way. It shows that there's light wind blowing and adds to the outdoor environment. In the outdoor scenes shown for this game, the fog looked good but mostly static and kinda distant. In the clip where James is walking up to that building entrance, there's no wind whatsoever and the fog looks really thin. In that same clip, the lighting also looks very flat. Check out the part with him walking up to the building again and specifically look at the lighting. It looks like there's no shadows or contrast to the building. Kinda like they put the building in the game but did little else. Just really basic, flat lighting which looks overly bright. The interior areas look like they have better lighting but the lack of atmospheric effects is still present. I would expect the interior of old, decrepit buildings to have dust particles floating around, especially visible when using a flashlight, but there isn't any to be seen. Just clean/clear air. It may seem like an insignificant complaint but it may be an indicator of a lack of attention to detail in the game. I mean, I get that on the PS2 atmospheric effects used up a lot of processing power, but we're on the PS5 now and they could really go all out with this game if they chose to. It's things like this that really add to the atmosphere and immersion of a game's environment. And what you heard about Bloober Team is correct. They are a terrible company. Most of their games having metacritic scores in the 50's and 60's, with only a couple having scores in the 70's. They have never made a game that was considered truly good or even great, for that matter. Their most successful game was called The Medium and it got a 75/100 on PS5 and a 71/100 on XSX. Many of the reviews calling it poorly made, repeatative and derivative. The gameplay itself being noted as weak.

The enemies in Silent Hill are abstract and idealistic. Silent Hill is a dream-like place and the setting and enemies are living nightmares. I agree with a lot of your points but something that you need to know about is that a decent amount of the criticisms for the Remake has partly do with Bloober Team themselves considering a ton of their past titles were glorified walking simulators with pretty terrible writing not to mention they have a history of plagiarizing other work for their games like for example the Layers of Fear game being a rip off of Kojima's PT taking tons of elements from that game and including it in theirs without understanding why those elements worked so well in the first place and now a lot of people have become more aware of it over the years including me. Granted there is one game that Bloober made that I heard was good called Observer (I unfortunately haven't played it yet) but every other title they've made seems to just be a plagiarized mess that does so much yet so little and had I not known a lot of this I would've given them the benefit of the doubt and thing that people were being harsh but considering what I know of them now I think the criticisms of the Remake are justified although I do think that Silent Hill fans take things way too far at times. I don't really have a problem with the SH2 remake, but rather the way Konami are treating the entire franchise as a whole. The way they're just slapping the Silent Hill name on all these unrelated horror games is 100% a cash grab situation. Frankly, these projects deserve every last bit of scrutiny they get. It sucks for the devs but it's a Konami problem at the root of it. The SH2 remake is probably the most promising thing they have in the pipeline but Capcom have set an incredibly high bar when it comes to remaking beloved horror titles and Silent Hill deserves that kind of AAA treatment.

However, I'm not out here being optimistic and thinking the game is gonna be good by any means, the gameplay and graphics look like Daymare: 1998 and the button smash icon in the middle of the screen with no effect? It looks like a lazy ps3 game made by a fan of the franchise not a gaming company worth millions. That's my cup of tea if others disagree I understand, yet I can't sit here and pretend I don't see the flaws with the game. The game should look just as good as Resident evil 2 which came out in 2019, yet everything about this remake feels off.

The guns sound a little off no they sound like shit along with problems in the animations and James movement which can potentially all be fixed but some games don’t fix the finer details and release a less than quality project

I think Konami is getting all the hate and for good reasons. SH 2 remake could be the only good thing from this revival but all the other games are out of place, The short message maybe is not a bad game but IS NOT silent hill, no atmosphere and no town. The other projects some of them makes no sense. And the movie, well... let's see.
