I wonder how the novel would be if it had been told from Gabriel's perspective. It would simply be a struggle of seeking justice against unjustified murder. Every character in this novel exhibits some personality disorder. Kathy is Histrionic, Theo's father was borderline and Alicia must be having Major Depressive disorder right from her childhood.

Thanks for the comment. I am not familiar enough with psychology to have diagnosed any other characters 😊

Thanks, super helpful. I finished it a month ago and needed a refresher before the book group discussion.

Nice review! I read that one when it came out a few years ago. One of the better thrillers I'd read in awhile.

I also had no emotional connection to any character, and therefore this book just felt creepy.

Have you read any other thrillers you could recommend. I read this book and loved it

The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware and Home Before Dark by Riley Sager were enjoyable. Thanks for the comment!

I was kind of bored by all the backstory myself but liked how he tied everything together at the end. Thanks for watching :)

Believe me, I had stopped reading this book twice because of how the beginning and middle was so dry and boring. A lot of people told me to continue reading it. I can now say that I am glad I finished reading it. When I got through to about 75% of the book, it became interesting and pulled me in. The ending was really shocking and the plot twist was unbelievable.
