I love the sound of silent switches. Silent topre and Damped alps switches make some of my favorite keyboard noises, just a nice “thunk”.

I got used to using akko cream blue v3 pro but it's kinda noisy at night. So i bought this switches and man its like i'm very impressed how quiet it is! My controllers are more noisy than my keyboard lmao! I replaced the spring with a shorter and lighter one with a 50g spring because my akko cream blues are lighter and got used to it. So did the same with my Akko Penguins. edit: I lubed them to remove the scratchy feeling. Yes you can feel them scratch and it annoys me.

What lube do you recommend? Been looking at these switches and didn't know all of the different kinds of lube for different switches
@dreadwolfrisingАй бұрын
@austinatkinson7658 for these since they're both tactile and silent, go with a lower viscosity lube like tribosys 3203 - just be aware that it won't change the feeling too much and silent tactiles do tend to be on the scratchy side (I suspect it's resistance from the silicone sound dampeners on the stems). The dampeners are a tough one to balance with lubing enough for it to feel smoother, but not so much that they feel mushy. The original commenter was also onto something doing a spring swap - I've been finding that a lower weight spring does help make scratching less noticeable in silent tactiles. It'll also effect tactility though. You could also use krytox 205g0 instead (higher viscocity and usually seen as the standard, general purpose lube for linears), but err on the side of doing it very sparingly with tactiles, especially on the legs of the stem, leaves, and dampeners so you don't remove the tactile bump or get the mushy feeling. That's usually why folks will recommend the 3203 instead as it's harder to overdo, even if the trade off is a less noticeable difference from stock. 3203 and 205g0 are super handy to keep on hand generally if you're starting to buy supplies. Some also recommend krytox 105 oil for bag lubing springs, but I personally like to use 3203 individually instead. Very much a personal preference thing and whether you don't mind lubing springs for hours lol If you can get your hands on some sample switches, or even just have a couple extra from your build, try lubing a couple of them to get a feel for what you prefer, and what "too much" feels like for these. You can also get spring samples to see if a swap helps

Been in the keyboard hobby for a while now, ive tried so many switches that i genuinely stopped buying them, but recently the i’ve been on the mx browns just to go back to my roots, and found that they were genuinely one of my favorite tactiles, because of the audible scratch, you dont feel the scratch after breaking them in then lubing like i did, but then i tried these and thought how fun they were, to me the bottom out was very soft, but not as mushy as i was expecting, they felt more like per key gasket mounting if that makes sense. Im now on the look out for these weird switches like the BCP, and verious different “light tactile” switches that previously avoided because of their association with mx browns. these switches are fun

Did you try Gateron G Pro 3.0 browns, Baby Kangaroo 2.0 and Super Bananas too?

sounds like my membrane keyboard 🤣
@Goodmanperson554 ай бұрын
The thought process behind these types of switches is funny. The primary reason we move away from membrane keyboards is to get away from that mushy feeling which is inherent to using rubber. But this tends to make keyboards a bit noisier in comparison. So what do silent switches do to make them not as noisy as a typical mechanical keyboard switch? They add rubber back in as a damping material.

@@RyanYu It's true. I don't play on PC, but I write/type a lot, so I was already going crazy with the original sound of the Redragon Vata that uses the blue switch, if I'm not mistaken. I didn't change all the keys, only the letter ones (the price to change everything is quite high for Brazilian standards >__
